While the church counsels against it, because of its addictive nature, nothing I have found shows that the church prohibits it.

It is an Administration that prohibits the drug's use. See how "relatable" it actually is? Even including his taking money from such things he directly uses authority to prohibit, even putting others in jail for it... although the LDS Church doesn't prohibit gambling, it simply counsels against it, it doesn't even stop people from attending Temple who participate in it so long as they do not do it to excess.

Which of them does it make more of a hypocrite, or is it possible that your premise is stupid? Donations are not "profit", nor is Obama responsible for what the donator did to make the money.

You mean you don't care, the only reason that they don't prohibit gambling outright is because they know that many Mormons are involved in the gambling industry and would affect the money they recieve from tithes. The stench of hypocrisy is manifest in much of the LDS equivocations on the subject.

No, not ANYTHING LIKE Mormons. Again... 167 countries, versus maybe 3-4 for Hezbollah? All peoples of any religion or culture, versus just Muslims who support Jihad for Hezbollah. Helping to save millions of lives versus a history of funding suicide bombers to kill the enemy. Humanitarian assistance to even the Mormon's own worst enemies, versus Hezbollah not recognizing the Jew's right to exist... BIG BIG differences in the two.

You know, you can keep sitting here spewing vile and hateful insults at Mormon religion all day long, and it doesn't negate a thing they have done to help millions of people in dire need worldwide. Regardless of what their religion teaches, the record speaks for itself with regard to their charitable contribution to humanity, and no amount of trashing and bashing will change that. You can persecute them all day long for what they believe or how they practice their religious freedom, you still won't take away all they have done to help people in need, including their own enemies. You can try and compare them with terrorist organizations, and when that fails and falls flat on it's face, you can revert back to criticizing their rights to believe as they please religiously, it doesn't help your argument or save it from failure.

Now unless you have something of substance to add, you're done here. You've stated your case and I've stated mine, and people can make up their own minds. The fact is you stated that they forbid it, they don't but they do counsel against it, then cited an individual who owned a casino as "the church" actually "running" the casino...

And now you provide an anti-'mormon' site to back up your claims. The church doesn't forbid what people in this thread says they forbid, it isn't even something they refuse entry to Temple over (as your own link did say, albeit in a weakly left-handed way). Seriously, bigotry doesn't become you, you should stop while you are behind.

Nobody cares because it doesn't matter at all in this particular political race. It just doesn't.

I have to say, I have certainly learned a lot about LDS Charities through this debate. Before the pinhead attacks, I figured they were like any other religious-based charity, but in researching, I discovered they are quite different. It's impressive that they use 100% of donations to help the needy, and pay for operational costs from the general budget of the church. I am a big contributor to charities, and most of the ones I support, can claim a very high amount used for actual help, I think the Salvation Army is like 95 cents for every dollar or so, but it's unheard of to find a charity that uses 100% of the donations to help the needy. It's also impressive they have ten's of thousands of Mormon volunteers around the world, ready to lend 'helping hands' at a moment's notice. I didn't realize they are often on the scene in a disaster to help, before the Red Cross. The more I look at their charity wing objectively, the more I appreciate it, and I might just have found a new charity to donate to. Thanks to you pinheads for that, I may have never researched this if you hadn't raised the issue.
