Are non-profit organizations not allowed to own property now? Tell ya what asshole... why don't you give us a list of charity organizations who own no tangible property, then we can discuss this further. For the record, and in the spirit of truthfulness, 100% of all donations to LDS charity goes to those in need. The total operational cost is paid for out of the LDS general fund. Yes, members of churches do give money to their church, and the church owns property and real estate, and there is nothing illegal or unethical about that.

I posted the long list of charity works done by the Mormons worldwide. 100% of ALL DONATIONS TO LDS CHARITY goes to the needy. Church facilities and missions are built by the members of the church, not paid for out of charitable contributions.

I'm not a Mormon, and have no connection with their church. This doesn't mean I am going to join you in a deplorable bashfest against them, when the evidence shows they do a great deal to help people in need. You see, I have something you don't seem to have, a degree of integrity and honesty. I can admit that Mormons do a lot of great things to help those in need. It doesn't mean I want to be a Mormon, or I believe all the Mormons believe, or I think Mormons are better than everyone else. I can also admit that Romney has contributed a sizable chunk of his wealth to charity. It doesn't mean I will vote for him, or that this makes him suitable to be president. What it means is, your question of whether he has contributed his fair share has been answered. You just didn't like the answer because it didn't fit your meme.

What the Church owns is the Church's business. Their members contribute through tithes and offerings (NOT DONATIONS), and they build churches and missions. The CHARITY wing is a different matter altogether. They receive donations from Mormons and non-Mormons, and 100% of the donations are used to help the needy... they don't even pay administrative costs out of them, that is done through the general fund of the Church itself. Very FEW charity organizations can make the same claim.

Okay, so then you want to argue what Gandhi and Mother Teresa did was irrelevant, since they were merely following the tenants of their religion? The Salvation Army is irrelevant because they are merely following the tenants of their religion? It doesn't matter and we shouldn't give these people any credit at all for the charity work they do, because they are just doing what their religion teaches them to do. Is that your point?

Nope it's not. The LDS Charities use 100% of all donations to directly help people in need. The administrative costs are paid by the Church out of the General Fund. Mormon Helping Hands provides labor on a volunteer basis around the globe. No other charity organization I know of, can make such a claim.
