Minneapolis becomes first major American city to allow broadcast of 5 Muslim calls

Ever lived in a town or city near a church with working church bells? Ones that chimed the hour, every hour, and rang loudly early on Sunday mornings?

This is why we try to keep govt. and religion far apart. If you allow one religion to disturb the peace, you have to allow them all.

Why? They don't allow Christianity in much of the Islamic world, they don't need to in Somalia though as
Al-Shabaab takes care of business.

How long before they demand Sharia Law, it will happen you'll see. You usually need to get to over 5% of the population being Muslim before the militants come out to play.

You're so predictable and dull witted. You spout a load of bollocks, get called on it and then go fucking doolally. I think a period of purdah is called for here.

We're not in the Muslim world, are we? Well, not we Americans anyways. You refugees to an eastern country might have different results. As much as you want to meddle in American politics, you will never understand our desire NOT to be a theocracy or to let the dominant religion force its beliefs on everyone.

You're so full of shit lady, arrogant and incredibly ignorant.

I can pretty much expect that you won't be living there in your gated fortress.

I lived there for 60 years. I own a condo there and spend a ton of time there. Great city. Great restaurants, culture, sports. You would hate it. No redneck losers.

I've been to more countries than you've had hot dinners, matey. Planning to see my sons in Tokyo and Singapore soon.

What some people do not understand is that Jews and Muslims get along well... In the USA, as long as we do not bring up the Middle East.

Rabid righties want them not to get along well, it would deprive them of their "see, I told you so" comebacks.

The Muslim call in English

God is the Greatest! God is the Greatest!
God is the Greatest! God is the Greatest!
I bear witness that there is no god but God.
I bear witness that there is no god but God.

Come to prayer. Come to prayer.
Come to success. Come to success.
God is the Greatest! God is the Greatest!
There is no god but God.

Fundamentalists should love this prayer. It's what they want for the US, a theocracy.

A lot of this happening in the last few years

Jews and Muslims in New York bond over shared space and shared values
When a Muslim group needed a place for youth religious education, it began meeting at a synagogue. This arrangement led to friendship and learning -- and activism.

Jewish History – Jews & Muslims Together in the Middle Ages

a time when Jews and Muslims lived in harmony and thrived together. While in the 21st Century, there is much political, social, and religious concern about Jewish-Muslim relations in the world, it was not always this way. At one time, Jews and Muslims lived side by side, worked together, studied together and even today, there are many similarities the way Islam and Judaism is observed from a religious perspective. This common era is a hopeful sign of the potential for good things to come in our world.

“There are conflicts in every family, but brothers and sisters should always work at making things better in their relationships – no matter the history.”

Why does a routine regulation in Minneapolis seem to bother you so much? The Muslim population in the US is already 11% with no Shari'ah laws in sight.

I read that Judaism, Christianity and Islam are the three Abrahamic faiths we all have in common. (I'm not sure that reads correctly but you get the point.)

ROTFLMFAO!!!!!

Not a chance, pal.

I've been to Tokyo and Singapore. Seoul, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Auckland, every major city in Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, Norway, Sweden, Finland. Central America, South America, dozens of countries there. I traveled internationally for business. Because of course I was a captain of industry. Did the McDonalds in Singapore have room for you?

Too funny. Your insult missed the mark by a mile. I have over a million miles just on Delta.

You haven't been out of your back yard, son.

that dialogue once avoided, is now taking place in some communities. The ties of mutual affection we have built and the sense of solidarity and common purpose we have achieved has given us increasing confidence that we can have that difficult conversation about Israel-Palestine, even at an awful moment like the one we are presently experiencing, and come out of that dialogue with our friendships intact. Indeed, we have reached this point because a critical mass of American Muslims and Jews have come to understand that strengthening ties between our communities is not only morally uplifting but is crucial to ensuring our well-being in the face of the recent sharp rise of white supremacy, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism in America.
