I have been out of touch since NYE, and am just back today, but I cant seem to get much information on the situation.

Has the power been cut?
Water?
Are they barricaded in?
What if the employees showed up this morning, would they have been turned away under threat of violence?
The local Sherriff asked them to leave and give up, don't they consider him the ultimate authority?
Why did they chose this remote irrelevant location?

The plan was to take and hold the convicted arsonists to the refuge so they wouldn't have to serve the mandatory 5 year sentence for setting fire to federal land.
When push came to shove the Hammonds wanted no part of Bundy's thugs and turned themselves in to begin their sentence.
Why the Bundy thugs went ahead with the occupation of the bird sanctuary visitor center without their star arsonists is beyond me... They were too stupid to change their plans, I guess...
They seem to envision the feds storming the remote building to "take it back", making a media event that will give them publicity for their anti government cause...

LE has cut off any access to and from the bird sanctuary.

Federal authorities are planning to cut off the power of the wildlife refuge in Oregon that has been taken over by militia, exposing the armed occupiers to sub-zero temperatures in an effort to flush them out.

Armed militants will begin their third day at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, a remote federal outpost in eastern Oregon, on Tuesday, and have vowed to remain for months in protest over the treatment of two local cattle ranchers.

A federal government official told the Guardian that authorities were planning on Monday to cut the power at the refuge.

“It’s in the middle of nowhere,” said the official, who is based in Washington, DC, and has knowledge of the planned response to the militia. “And it’s flat-ass cold up there.”

The official, who asked not to be named, said they were not privy to the FBI’s plan of action. However, they said the US Park Service, which is leading the crisis management reaction to the occupation in liaison with the FBI, planned to cut the power to the building where the militiamen are spending their nights.
“After they shut off the power, they’ll kill the phone service,” the official told The Guardian. “Then they’ll block all the roads so that all those guys have a long, lonely winter to think about what they’ve done.”

That is what they want. The feds know that and they aren't going to give it to them.
Their tune will change after a few weeks of freezing hungry in the dark, cut off from everything and everyone.
They have only enough food for about two weeks to feed the dozen or so people there.

They will likely shoot some of the wildlife to eat.

Yup. That's pretty much the case. The only ones in any real danger of getting hurt is Ya'llQaeda. They may suffer frost bite or accidently shoot themselves or trip over a spotted owl. Just wait them out.
