Trumpers skew hard right so it's no surprise that they see corruption everywhere to the left of their far right POV.
I watched most of the hearing today. I saw a roomful of politicians and a lawyer trying to navigate a room full of politicians all trying to grandstand for the cameras....mostly with gotcha questions. It reminded me of the "what is a woman" question, something all the Trumpers played with for months.
Garland got raked over the coals.

A third IRS official confirmed that Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss faced roadblocks when attempting to bring charges against Hunter Biden, contradicting denials issued Wednesday by Attorney General Merrick Garland.
IRS Director of Field Operations Michael Batdorf told the House Ways and Means Committee in a closed-door interview on Sept. 12 that he felt “frustrated” by the refusal of the Justice Department to approve tax charges that IRS agents viewed as well-supported by evidence, according to a transcript of the interview obtained by the Washington Examiner.

No, he did not. You just do not like his answers. He named Weiss as a independent investigator and gave him all the powers that entails. When he asked for more powers, he granted them. He was hands off the Hunter investigation at all times.
Garland cannot talk about open cases. That is how it works in America.
