In nearly three hours of testimony so far by Attorney General Merrick Garland before the House Judiciary Committee, the divide between Democratic and Republican lawmakers on a range of issues has proved stark. The session — contentious at times — centered on some of the Justice Department’s most politically charged cases, including special counsel David Weiss’s investigation into President Biden’s son Hunter. “Mr. Weiss has made his … decisions, and Mr. Weiss is an experienced federal prosecutor with extensive experience and with sufficient credibility to be appointed by President Trump,” Garland said. “I just have no grounds for interfering here.”

Garland dodged every question. The man is lying to a congressional committee.
 
After Representative Thomas Massie suggests that Garland could be held in contempt of Congress for refusing to comment on open investigations, Representative Eric Swalwell points out that Jim Jordan, the committee chairman, was one of four Republicans to defy subpoeanas issued by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attacks when Democrats were in charge.
