After Voting To Acquit, McConnell Torches Trump As Responsible For Riot

Following Saturday's vote acquitting former President Trump, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell excoriated Trump for his actions on the day of the attack on the U.S. Capitol, calling them a "disgraceful dereliction of duty." But, he said, ultimately, he did not vote to convict the former president because of constitutional concerns.

"There's no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day," McConnell said shortly after the 57-43 Senate vote that ended in the former president's acquittal.

"The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president, and having that belief was a foreseeable consequence of the growing crescendo of false statements, conspiracy theories, and reckless hyperbole which the defeated president kept shouting into the largest megaphone on planet Earth."

McConnell rebuked Trump for his actions after the insurrection as well.

"He did not do his job. He didn't take steps so federal law could be faithfully executed and order restored," he continued

I love how even Mitch McConnell - the current top Republican elected official in the nation -- is openly saying that the Kraken conspiracy theories and claims of stolen elections were all monumental lies.

I’m waiting for someone to torch whoever it was that was responsible for lack of security on 1/6. Where is the Turtle’s outrage in that?

Every bit of this was easily preventable but it was almost as if it was allowed to happen.

I jump the gun?? Democrats just whiffed on their Snap Impeachment because they weren’t prepared. Why didn’t they have all these supposed witnesses lined up and ready to go? Why did they rely so heavily on a Grade B propaganda clip that was easily shot down by the defense when they showed Democrats doing the very thing they were accusing the defendant of?

And here’s another thing democrats can mull over before they get trial happy and rush into another embarrassment. Actual trials involve discovery which means Trump will be provided an opportunity to prove he wasn’t lying about election fraud. Do Democrats really want to go there and jeopardize their ‘perfect election’ narrative?

Especially, after Molly Ball’s little expose’ in Time Magazine last week. As a matter of fact she’d be an excellent witness.

My advice to democrats and the Trump haters is to just stop. But they never listen to me.

What worries me is that Trump's populist positions have been given mainstream attention and legitimacy among millions of otherwise politically neutral Americans.

I don’t watch Fox or the ‘news’. I have sources I prefer to keep to myself.

The best democrats and Trump haters will be able to do is wring so some Sort of negligence charge out of it. ‘Traitor’ and the other hyperbolic stuff is off the table. My advice is to just move on, already.

It’s not like ‘they have nothing to lose’ in doing the same thing over and over again. There are tens of millions of voters out there who are OVER this stuff, over hearing about Trump; they want to hear about jobs, COVID relief, infrastructure, you know, stuff that matters to people who don’t hate Trump more than they care about things that actually matter and will move the country forward.
