McCain accuses Rand Paul of "working for Vlad Putin"

The dem party has always been anti-Russian, anti-commie.. It was a republican that went to RED CHINA.. Perhaps you weren't born yet or read it in a history book..

You seem to be the one caught up in the hysteria- the radical Islamist use terror because that is all they have~it exaggerates their real threat-the Russians have a real threat, they don't need to rely on terrorism..

If not for the dirty, almost none of you would be defending Russia or their tyrant..

He was probably not the first choice of most of ya'll, for many he was the last choice, you are not obligated to support or defend everything he does because you voted for him............ Just a thought..

well i thought maybe you had a lucid moment there for a bit..did not Obama do a Russian reset?
Was Putin not a "tyrant" already.
So what's changed? =Russiaphobia ginned up by the IC leadership and the Dem's to explain Clinton's loss.

why did Nixon go to China? To separate as much as possible the Soviet-Sino alliance
Why is it a good idea for a rapproachment with Russia today? same thing

Um, you must not have known too many leftists and/or Dems between 1970 and 1991. On top of that, there is this much more recent gem:

THE 1980's ARE CALLING; THEY WANT THEIR FOREIGN POLICY BACK.

true on Crimea. I did a LOT of studying like I do when issues cropped up - the same thing I did with drones and terrorism - i taught myself all about terrorism ( remember when we had discussions like what is the most dangerous place on earth? and you mentioned Wakistan? - i started to study Pakistan and the "tribal areas" and came to agreement)

I've studied the middle east since we became interventionists I think I have a decent working knowledge of the geography and the players. -i't s a GOOD THING to check your preconceptions/mindsets!

And the easiest thing to do regarding Crimea is to condemn Putin - that's what I did.
Then i started to think of Sevastopol, and found out about the long lease just negotiated by Yanokovitch (sp)
that was at risk because of USAID and US meddling in the Euromaiden..

Remember Victoria Nuland's "cupcakes" in Independence Sq.?
point is..I see Putin's side of it - i do not dismiss his "little green men operating in Donbas still-
but i think he had no choice in Crimea regarding Sevastopol and NATO expansion..
His need for access to the Black Sea fleet is paramount

There is a deal to be had there too with the new Kerch Straight bridge https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerch_Strait_Bridge
connecting Russia directly to Crimea without going thru Uk..

Obama was the worst foreign policy president -including Libya we've had since i can recall
except for Shrub..they were awful.

Everyone changes their minds, most lack the sack to admit their previous understanding was wrong/incomplete or whatever....

Back then you were very opposed to "the Russian invasion", & I wasn't so much since most of that area was historically Russian~taken from the Turks & Mongols..

The asshole kruchev took it upon himself to make this mess.:palm:

The transfer of the Crimean Oblast in 1954 was an administrative action of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union which transferred the government of the Crimean peninsula from the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic to the Ukrainian SSR.

The meddling in the Ukraine by the Obama /Clinton/Nuland State Dept crew of regime changers did it for me.
Everywhere they intervened they left gross instability, and collapse of governments.

Once you figure that out, the Russiaphobia analysis disappears in favor of Realpolitik

this stuff is endless.eastern European countries and nationalities and "tribes"all absorbing and conquering each other is way past my interest level.
And to be sure Putin violated the Budapest memorandum -but so what?
When we expanded NATO up to Russian border, and border state we also put all this in play.
You are never going to solve this -you can deal with it going forward, and that's what I think we should be doing
