MOTHER JONES -(2003)
Over the last two decades, McCain has rarely missed an opportunity to call for the escalation of an international conflict. Since the mid-1990s, he's pushed for regime change in more than a half-dozen countries—occasionally with disastrous consequences.

Here's a quick review of McCain's eagerness for military action and foreign entanglements.
Syria

Fighting words: "Providing military assistance to the Free Syrian Army and other opposition groups is necessary, but at this late hour, that alone will not be sufficient to stop the slaughter and save innocent lives. The only realistic way to do so is with foreign air power."

What he wanted: Airstrikes, culminating in regime change.

What was it good for? TBD.

Angry McCains: 5

IRAQ (part II)

Fighting words: "Leaders always have choices, and history teaches that hard choices deferred—appeasing Hitler, choosing not to deter Saddam Hussein in 1990, failing to act sooner against Al Qaeda—often bring about the very circumstances we wished to avoid by deferring action, requiring us to react in freedom's defense. America's leaders today have a choice. It will determine whether our people live in fear behind walls that have already been breached, as our enemies plan our defeat in time we have given them to do it."

What he wanted: Ground war culminating in regime change.

What was it good for? See above.

AFGHANISTAN

Fighting words: "We should make an immediate statement of our resolve that we no longer intend to tolerate sanction given to our enemies by any nation…Should the Taliban refuse our demand, then they must know that they will be treated as allies of our enemy, and, thus, are themselves our enemies, and will suffer much for their allegiance."

What he wanted: Osama bin Laden's head, at any cost.

What was it good for? Ground war culminating in regime change (ongoing).

Angry McCains: Five
McCain-5.png

LIBYA

Fighting words: "I would arm, train, equip, both from without and from within, forces that would eventually overthrow the governments and install free and democratically-elected governments" (2000). "t does take time, as it did during the period of the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. But we were able to provide them with some weapons and wherewithal to cause the Russians to leave Afghanistan. So we can do it" (2012).

What he wanted: Regime change.

What was it good for? Regime change (12 years—and one ill-considered tweet) later.

Angry McCains: Five
McCain-5.png

Kosovo

Fighting words: "The best course for us, NATO, Kosovo, Russia and even Serbia is to begin fighting this war as if it were a war, with huge stakes involved, instead of some strange interlude between peace initiatives…To that end, we should commence today to mobilize infantry and armored divisions for a possible ground war in Kosovo."

What he wanted: Ground war culminating in regime change.

What was it good for? Airstrikes.

Angry McCains: Four
McCain-4.png

IRAQ (part i)

Fighting words: "It is clear to me that if we fail to act there will be inevitably a succession of dictators, of Saddam Husseins, of which around the globe there is an abundance."

What he wanted: Ground war in Kuwait.

What was it good for? See above.

Angry McCains: Four
McCain-4.png

Nigeria

Fighting words: "If they knew where they were, I certainly would send in U.S. troops to rescue them, in a New York minute I would, without permission of the host country. I wouldn't be waiting for some kind of permission from some guy named Goodluck Jonathan."

What he wanted: Special ops raid against Boko Haram.

What was it good for? TBD.

Angry McCains: Four
McCain-4.png

Bosnia

Fighting words: "If [Bosnians] were equipped, especially with TOW missiles, some heavy armor, some tanks, then I think that we could foresee a stable situation."

What he wanted: Air strikes and military assistance.

What was it good for? See above.

Angry McCains: Three
McCain-3.png

NORTH KOREA

Fighting words: "I would arm, train, equip, both from without and from within, forces that would eventually overthrow the governments and install free and democratically-elected governments."

What he wanted: Either regime change by aiding local opposition, or an outright military confrontation.

What was it good for? TBD

Angry McCains: Three
McCain-3.png

IRAN

Fighting words: "It's that old Beach Boys song, 'Bomb Iran'? Bomb bomb bomb…"

What was it good for? Unspecified air strikes; unspecified support for dissident groups.

What he got: TBD.

Angry McCains: Three
McCain-3.png

GEORGIA

Fighting words: "Today, we are all Georgians."

What he wanted: Unspecified aggression toward Russia after invasion of Georgia.

What was it good for? Absolutely nothing.

Angry McCains: Two
McCain-2.png

RUSSIA

Fighting words: "Now is the time to fundamentally rethink our relationship with Putin's Russia. We need to deal with the Russia that is, not the Russia we might wish for. We cannot allow today's action by Putin to stand without serious repercussions…We should push for the completion of all phases of our missile defense programs in Europe, and move expeditiously on another round of NATO expansion."

What he wanted: A new Cold War.

What was it good for? Absolutely nothing.

Angry McCains: Two
McCain-2.png

SUDAN

Fighting words: "NATO should immediately establish and enforce a no-fly zone over Darfur to ensure that Khartoum ends its offensive military flights and bombing raids, as the Security Council has already demanded…[T]he United States should intensify efforts to persuade UN members to commit troops and funds for the UN force in Darfur, and it should develop plans for US logistical support."

What he wanted: UN troops.

What was it good for? UN troops.

Angry McCains: Two
McCain-2.png

MALI

Fighting words: "We need to have DOD assistance as much as feasible and necessary to prevent Mali from deteriorating further into a chaotic situation."

What he wanted: Military assistance.

What was it good for? Military assistance.

Angry McCains: Two
McCain-2.png

CHINA

Fighting words: "The Arab Spring is coming to China."

What he wanted: Totally unclear.

What was it good for? Nothing.

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam (AP) - John McCain, on a journey meant to heal old wounds, said Friday the wrong side won the Vietnam War, adding to earlier comments that accused the communists of torturing POWs.
What a dick.

How dare McCain speak against the Emperor's new clothes. Off with his head.

:rofl2:

McCain is just a politician. The Emperor is a celebrity .. and perpetual liar with the lowest job approval ever recorded. :0)

McCain has worked with lots of presidents.

The celebrity is a one term president who makes Jimmy Carter look like FDR. Republicans will get rid of him.

McCain will still be in office when Trump moves to Russia and the orange glow fades to black. :0)

And liberals love them some John McCain lol.
Go figure.
they hate his warmongering ass -but they are absolutely batchit frothing over Trump.
It shows one how partisanship is a mindf*ck

But don't forget McCain is pushing NATO expansion once again -the root of conflict with Russia

Putin, Putin everywhere.

Poor liberals. They have no idea how powerful they are making him look. Putin is LHAO.

:0) Start from here .. Trump already had the lowest approval of any American president in history at this stage .. and his numbers just got worse .. went down even further.

His numbers on Russia .. 33% support.

Respectfully, I'm not sure what you're looking at. This is politics brother .. politics with a vengeance. 33% means Trump is vulnerable on this issue .. vulnerable in large part because democrats won't let it go.

What democrats make Putin look like is the murderous thug that he is .. and one who interferes in our politics.

Not sure what you're looking at .. but that's a winning hand.

Poor liberals? :0) Democrats and liberals aren't sweating .. they're free of responsibility.

Republicans are sweating like pigs. Don't know what to do with Big Pappa. :0)

Surely you can smell the coffee by now.

It only plays because of inherent American Russiaphobia, and mad dogs like McCain. and the Deep State /IC of course

It will blow over once the "Russian collusion" nothing-burger is pulled off the grill.

The problem for the country ( forget the partisanship) is that by then a chance for a Russian reset
may be too late..
And that is the national security damage the Dems/McCain are willing to cause for their own twisted ends.

The McCain/left alliance lol.

Who saw that coming? Even a year and a half ago who could have predicted that the left[!] would be on the wrong side of a Red Scare; the likes of which, we haven't seen since the days of Joe McCarthy?

Russia was actually scary in those days too. Today, not so much. Unless you live in some of the former Soviet satellites you have little or nothing to fear from Russians. Or put it this way, we as Americans have way more to fear from radical Islam and radical Muslims than we do from Putin's Russia.

Muslims [#notallmuslims] are scheming, as I type this, to kill innocent Americans. When it's put into perspective, the irrationality of it all is glaring.

People are being played by this Russia-phobia bit and they don't realize it. Or as you say, they don't care because it suits their partisan ends.

it just goes to show what mindless partisan does -it twist's your reasoning to fit a pre-set alliance.

McCain is a sick fuck.
He always has been a warpig -but his stuck pig screaming about Putin is the bleating of an old man wanting his
Cold War to to be draped over the next generation. He ( and Graham) actually want these endless confrontations.

You are correct in that Islamic terrorism is actually more dangerous then *!Russia! grr grr* -
but the potential for danger with Russia is dangerous on a world wide scale.
And it need not be this way.

Like I said about Obama and Hillary regarding Libya -may they rot in hell for choosing a needless war.
Add McCain to that list- destined to perpetual inferno for promulgating perpetual war.

McCain-5.png

Putin has to contend w/USAID ( State Dept) meddling in the Euromaiden jeopardizing his lease to Sevastopol
(Black Sea fleet) .
This is no "land grab" to just expand Russia..
Now that Russia has a land bridge to Sevastopol without needing to go thru Crimea it might - just might- be negotiable in return for lifting western sanctions..
But we'll never know because of warpigs like McCain and Graham who can only froth at Putin.

Kerch Strait Bridge -from Russia to Sevastopol without going thru Crimea
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerch_Strait_Bridge
construction of a highway and rail bridge across the Straits Kerch, at the mouth of the Sea of Azov onto the Black Sea, which will link the southern Russia region of Krasnodar with the Crimean peninsula

and then there is this arsehole...
cnn;politics/2017/02/02/trump-russia-punish-graham-ath-sot.cnn]http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/02/politics/lindsey-graham-russia-punished/index.html

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Thursday he is drafting a resolution with the goal of making Russia pay for interfering in the 2016 election.
I will never be satisfied until the Congress and the White House work together to punish Russia for trying to interfere with our election," the South Carolina Republican told CNN's Kate Bolduan on "At This Hour." "I don't think they changed the outcome but they clearly tried to manipulate the outcome."

If Donald Trump forgives Putin for what he tried to do in our election, that will scream weakness and the world will get a lot more unstable," he said Thursday.

"There needs to be new sanctions imposed against Russia for interfering in our election," Graham added.

Do you really think the Russians are counting on a reset when they got busted interring in our elections??

The so-called presidents bumbling is probably helping them, or @ least giving them a good laugh...

Over the last couple days he pissed off Germany, England & his friends @ fox~blame anyone/everyone but him..

This isn't what you expected, you aren't required to support every stupid utterance just because you voted for him..

I routinely criticize his Tweets. Merkel and him got along well enough -this policy of 'America first" was even defended by Merkel as completely understandable.

No Russian reset is not because of Russian meddling-it's because of the Russiaphobes -and no it's not "helping them" or the USA either unless you are of the opinion escalation Cold War 2.0 is "helpful" by any measure

What's happening is aideslike Flynn ( whatever his sins) and peeps who see the advantages of a Russian reset-
are being marginalized by the INSANE "Russian collusion" coverage- and Moscow is no longer counting on anything but more of a shitty relationship institutionalized by Obama..
Flynn's replacement is a standard issue Russian hater.

For ex. deals to remove the Russian support for Donbas separatists in return for recognition
of Crimean referendum are probably still born by now.
Enjoy the new Cold War. You'll be paying for it.

The dem party has always been anti-Russian, anti-commie.. It was a republican that went to RED CHINA.. Perhaps you weren't born yet or read it in a history book..

You seem to be the one caught up in the hysteria- the radical Islamist use terror because that is all they have~it exaggerates their real threat-the Russians have a real threat, they don't need to rely on terrorism..

If not for the dirty, almost none of you would be defending Russia or their tyrant..

He was probably not the first choice of most of ya'll, for many he was the last choice, you are not obligated to support or defend everything he does because you voted for him............ Just a thought..
