Maine Governor wants to stop EBT being used for candy/soft drinks

No you northern reject.
I am saying she is altruistic in her desires for her fellow humans not Machiavellian like you. As an untrustworthy piece of shit you thick everyone is like you.

I rejected the north, not the opposite.

But but if C-fan is so smart, she has to understand that, as you admit, welfare, as it has become, destroys more than it helps. How is that altruistic?

Is he claiming I wrote this? "If they are so smart, they should be able to see the real effects of their programs instead of claiming that they just need more funding for the program to produce a different result."

Isn't that the same for those on EBT? They can get their own money to eat junk food?

I can't believe all this is over a candy bar. Look at this statement: " More than 82% of all food stamp money goes to households that include children, elderly people, or people with disabilities. These are people who legally or physically cannot work and live at the mercy of the system."

The elderly, the disabled and children... people who can't work and yet welfare critics are begrudging them the occasional treat. What a country.

This goes back to the OP. Like kids and their free school lunches, if the gov't is giving it to you should they be able to dictate that you eat healthy? It's more than a candy bar is bad. It's about overall costs in the system

what about kids at school?

Yet another failure of the left. They mandated "healthy" school lunches. Guess where all that healthy food ends up? The garbage can.

The kids eat the 2 good things and throw the rest out. I asked my teacher friend, why can't the children just refuse the health options if they aren't going to eat it. He said the state mandates that it is part of their lunch...

I think they do this stupid bullshit on purpose.

There is clearly some abuse of the Food Stamp program, and I am all for trying to end that abuse but not at the cost of people and children going without food.

I know plenty of people who never earned a dime who eat very well on their great grandparents dime.

How is setting parameters where soda, candy, chips etc. are not allowed on an EBT purchase "preventing people and children sic from going without food"?

By all means show where I agreed with you about anything.

Overall costs?

Let's say you get an EBT card worth $150 once a month. Whether you spend it on healthy food or junk it has to last you a month so the sensible action is to buy staples that you can eat for 30 days. You're not getting an extra card if you spent the first on cookies and candy and have nothing left after two weeks.

This goes back to the statistic about the 82% getting cards because they can't work, not because they don't want to work. The naysayers think it's the other way around. We've had threads here about Wal-Mart employees or military families using EBT because they can't make it even with a paycheck. My position is that if your life is so disadvantaged you have to scrape by on EBT and food banks, you can have a Snickers once in awhile with my blessing.
