Maine Governor wants to stop EBT being used for candy/soft drinks

Until people like you aren't willing to enable people to make decisions that you aren't willing to hold them accountable for making, those like you are at fault if it doesn't change. Blame yourself.

I haven't created any kids that I couldn't afford so I'm not blaming myself. And back to the big picture welfare is a small part of our budget.

Cawacko suggested support abortion as a way to keep taxpayers from having to support someone else's kids.

You brought up the issue of cost. Abortions and people not getting pregnant are two big ways to prevent people from having kids they can't afford. It's fine if you'd don't support abortion but don't get upset that it's brought up

You're to blame because although you may not have done it personally, you support those that did getting money that someone else earned to support them when they can't. You don't have to personally be an example to blame. All you have to do is support it being done.

The amount of money spent on such things is irrelevant. If one penny is taken from the person that earned it and given to someone that made a choice they expect others to fund when they can't affords the results of the choice, it's one cent too much. You seem to think it's about the amount. Even if the amount the government took from me was equal to what I would do voluntarily, I oppose it because it's not the government's place to dictate that I help anyone.

You brought up abortion as a way to lower costs then when PMP brought up abortion you said the discussion was about cost.

I voted for Gary Johnson last election. Would any other candidate running do more to reduce all types of government welfare than him? There is no part of our economy that our gov't doesn't touch and subsidize in some form or another. If you vote for Democrats or Republicans you support massive gov't welfare.

I will also vote for Gary Johnson in this election.

and don't get upset if we consider you inhuman for doing so......it simply fits........

If you support someone getting handouts when they can't afford the choices they made or subsidies for birth control, you support more massive government welfare than I ever will. You can say you will vote for Gary Johnson but if you support what you've indicated here, you contradict that vote by your beliefs.

A question for both sides of this issue.

If someone receiving assistant is found to be abusing the system, what should be done to them?
What should happen if they have children?

What I say is ultimately irrelevant. I can write my perfectly envisioned society on here but it will mean nothing. I can say we need no S.S. and no Medicare and everyone take care of themselves. It's not going to change much.

Voting Libertarian is coming to the closest to actually doing something. Based on what you've said I'd think you bed quite happy with Johnson's platform outside of abortion.

I would assume there are rules that punish people for breaking the law in this area. I wouldn't think having kids changes the law.

1) Automatically and permanently off the dole

2) Since those that didn't create those children never should have been required to support them, not my problem.

Would you consider someone continuing to have kids when they can't support the ones they have as abuse? I would.

What you do is relevant. Since you're willing to accept things the way they are and make excuses why they won't change, you enable them to continue the way they are. Voting for someone that will never win allows the system to continue the way it is. It might make you feel better but it does nothing more. It's like not playing the lottery then wondering why you didn't win.

Voting for Republicans or Democrats isn't changing the system either. What would you recommend?

To use the lottery analogy, the difference is I have a chance to win and you don't.

Win what? I'm a lifelong Republican. I've voted Libertarian several times as well as third party but generally I vote Republican. What has that gotten us on this issue? Republicans love debt as well just in different areas.

Trump is a big government liberal. So we don't even have a Republican running this election. So I'm quite content voting for someone who actually supports the Constitution in Johnson as opposed to Trump who could give two sh*ts about it.

It will be cheaper to the government raise kids than the families themselves? That's like straight out of the left-wing playbook.

What families? The left destroyed the family when they started this whole thing with LBS's not-so great society.

Govt is already raising and providing for the kids.

Then you're content on your vote doing absolutely nothing nor having a chance to do anything.
