It's my 2nd priority issue and I voted Democrat.
I think a lot of people like me who wouldn't normally vote Democrat did because Obama barely mentioned gun control and went out of his way to affirm the Heller decision last summer. I will be looking into this to get the facts, but I am extremely disappointed to hear that the Democrats have decided to squander their majority and political capital on such a senseless infringement of our constitutional rights. I will be voting straight ticket Republican in 2010 if this goes anywhere.

you do that. i'm not worried about it. It's not against the law to threaten lethal force in protecting my constitutional rights. It's also not against the law to use lethal force against cops to protect myself from unlawful arrest.

Americans are paranoid people .. thus gun-stupid. Let them have their guns.
Let everyone who wants one have guns. Many guns including assault weapons.
Most gun deaths are suicides anyway .. let them kill themselves if they want to.
Besides, with the right-wing and Glenn Beck begging for war against people they don't agree with, those who don't agree with them should arm themselves so they can assist the police and military in shooting back.

From the last paragraph of the article:
"The fact of trying to get everyone in a country as large as the United States or Canada to register their firearms is a very costly venture and one that will not achieve its objectives."
That read I must say this: Every gun that I have bought in the last 20 years has been registered with the government. Every one. It's the law. The only way to find unregistered guns in this country is to find those bought pre-registration days or those on the black market.

Very likely the same for me too, though I didn't vote Dem or Repub in the last election.

maryland has this with ballistics prints for every gun sold after 2000. millions have been spent on it, no crime has been solved with it.
registration will create millions of american criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens and will result in the deaths of thousands of people as well as law enforcement.

Tax and register the guns, serialize bullets, confiscate the unregistered guns and put the gunlovers who resist away for life.
I have guns that aren't registered either. Heirlooms and guns that I have bought privately or traded. I think the private trade (whether barter or cash) of guns is what they want eliminated. It's idiotic.
