I don't get it. This is an EMANCIPATION MEMORIAL. Does the left not understand that it means FREEDOM?
The statue is simply artwork depicting the freeing of a slave. For the full picture one must look at the back of
the statue as well. It shows the shackles on his feet which depicts his plight. This is history. It doesn't hide
anything. This was an image of the submissive position of slaves of the time.
Lincoln is standing with the proclamation in his right hand delivering a message of freedom.
According to the National Park Service, the monument was paid for solely by former slaves.
The campaign for the Freedmen's Memorial Monument to Abraham Lincoln, as it was to be known, was not the
only effort of the time to build a monument to Lincoln; however, as the only one soliciting contributions exclusively
from those who had most directly benefited from Lincoln's act of emancipation it had a special appeal. The funds
were collected solely from freed slaves (primarily from African American Union veterans).

Take it down. Put it in a civil rights museum with appropriate context.
If Lincoln saw it today in our world he'd insist it come down. He would not
