It's possible the papa info "triggered an investigation", but ask yourself how long an investigation would continue without turning up more?
They weren't going to get anything from Papa. So when Steele approached them, they used his fake dossier to go for the FISA.

The FISA was based "in bulk/heavily" on the Steele dossier, which Nunes and Grassley both say
wasn't corroborated except "minimal".

The other thing they relied on was the Isakoff (sp?) article, but the Grassley letter makes clear the article came from Steele's contacting the media -IOW's the Steele dossier/Ishakoff article were one and the same
though they were put in the application as separate evidence..

Then there is the Clinton campaign funneling info thru State ( confirmed by Nuland) that went to Steele for a separate dossier by Steele.. everything is Steele,Steele, Steele

I read the letter, it does not claim the Steele Dossier was bogus, just that the some of the info came from the Steele dossier.

Sounds like you got nothing to me.... Show me where any facts prove the parts of the Steele dossier that were used were bogus.

I see the words you are quoting, where does it say that the portions of the steel dossier that were used were bogus? Where does that even questioned their veracity at all? Textbook throwing shade, for political gain. Trump people don’t care if it’s the truth or not. They take a shred and run with it.

the podo guy was mentioned in passing once and then not again till after trump won.

Even at best reading the FBI never mentioned that the funders were the Clinton campiagn and the DNC just politcal opponents.

Also again the FBI did not verify the credibility the sources. They just said steele was credible so they were.
