Libya Declares Ceasefire

Unlike that master tactician Bush who is scene (sic) as a bumbling fool who really does believe the world is full of white hats and black hats. There needs to be a few more who should have "softly softly catchee monkey hung over their beds".

Yeah.... Bush sucked... thanks ... we knew that. That changes nothing about what I stated with regards to Obama.

The idea that the UN, the Arab League, the United States, France and the UK would have to rely on the media to find out if Qaddafi is complying with the cease fire is pretty funny.

You really are a doe-eyed naif!

I am the doe-eyed naif? Have you seen your avatar? When you look up 'doe-eyed naif' in the dictionary, that's the image they use!

Oh, by the way, pinheads.... He's killed 25 (confirmed) since the "ceasefire!"

No-no-really US, Arab League, France and UK.... I promise I am going to stop killing my people soon! There is really no need to take action against me, I plan to have peace in my country very very soon, I promise you this! This minor problem is almost under control, and it is handled... so shooo.... go away... leave me here in opulent power over this nation, because I am your man! You can trust 'Ol Daffy!

And that's totally how it has worked out:

WASHINGTON — The United States, Britain and France pushed forward against Libya on Friday as they declared that a cease-fire abruptly announced by Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi’s government was not enough, at least for now, to ward off military action against his forces.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, echoing remarks hours earlier by Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain, said in Washington on Friday morning that the United States would be “not responsive or impressed by words.”’ She said that the allies would “have to see actions on the ground, and that is not yet at all clear.”

Those actions included, she said, a clear move by Colonel Qaddafi’s forces away from the east, where they were threatening a final assault on the rebels’ stronghold in Benghazi.

happens all the time, how many times have so callled intelligence agencies been caught dumbfounded by a report in the media...

doh!

Opposition: Violence rages despite Libyan claim of cease-fire

Witnesses in the western city of Misrata said a pro-government assault is persisting and casualties are mounting as countries backing the council's move, such as Britain and France, get their military resources into place to enforce the measure.

HE IS STILL KILLING PEOPLE YOU STUPID BITCH!

I understand that. You seem to think that the Arab League and UN Security Council members have decided to leave him alone because he has claimed to agree to a cease fire, which is not the case.

You fuckwits are talking "...if the ceasefire holds..." and there has been no ceasefire. A ceasefire would require him to stop killing his people, and that hasn't happened, and no one who isn't a turnip, believes it will happen.

Yeah, I am sure the UN, Arab League, UK, and France, will get their shit together eventually, and get some support over there... but can the rebels hold out that long? ...Did Obama have a golf outing today?

hold everything!!!

WASHINGTON — As President Obama convened an urgent meeting with congressional leaders in the Situation Room at the White House, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that the United States is not swayed by Moammar Gadhafi's cease-fire declaration.

"We are going to be not responsive or impressed by words, we would have to see actions on the ground, and that is not yet at all clear," Clinton said.

I never suggested that there was an actual cease fire in the first instance. Maybe others have, but I sure as shit haven't. And the governments of the US, UK and France (among others) surely haven't suggested that there has been a cessation of hostilities.

Hence, my post quoting the NY Times article reflecting that.

This is exactly why agreeing to a no-fly zone is fucking stupid. When it doesn't work and Qadaffi crushes the rebels, what are we going to do then?

What no fly zone thing? It hasn't been implemented.

And what does it mean for you for the no fly zone to "work?"

We're not going to do anything, and many thousands more will die. We are telling the world we aren't the Police anymore, they have to settle their own problems over there.... Remember? I don't even think they really want to do the no-fly zones, they've been dragged there by the French and the Arab League! lol...sorry, didn't mean to lol... this is serious, but shit?.. lol!
