Liberal Bigotry

First you said I share the Democrat Party's prejudices, then you said I share little if anything. Are you lying now, or were you lying before?

your reading comprehension is really a problem, isn't it?

I really had no idea it was that severe.

My condolences.

are you suggesting that none of those programs has been considered by SCOTUS?
I'm saying that they haven't been adequately challenged, like I am challenging you now.

Again, please answer the question. Pick one or more of the issued raised. :)

Perhaps you can explain to me how any one of these programs is Constitutional on the federal level: welfare, government housing, government run schools, or Affirmative Action.

Maybe President Abraham Lincoln can explain these programs to you...

"The legitimate object of Government is to do for a community of people whatever they need to have done but cannot do at all, or cannot so well do, for themselves in their separate and individual capacities. But in all that people can individually do as well for themselves, Government ought not to interfere."
President Abraham Lincoln

Maybe President Dwight Eisenhower can add some more perspective...

"In all those things which deal with people, be liberal, be human. In all those things which deal with people's money, or their economy, or their form of government, be conservative."
President Dwight D. Eisenhower

Lincoln: if he's referring to the enumerated powers, they we are in complete agreement. I myself as an individual don't have the power to defend the countries borders, set standards of measurement, and enforce patents.

Eisenhower: I have no problem with his conservative economic policy. What in particular don't you, as a liberal, agree with?

No problem. Now, again, kindly demonstrate how I share any prejudices with the Democrat Party.

again... you share nothing with today's democratic party....you share the prejudices of the democratic party of the south in the 19th century. Today, your fellow travelers are staunch republicans - like trent lott - who believe that America would be a better place today if we had elected a racist, segregationist, rapist like strom thurmond in the middle of the last century.

adaquately challenged? what does that mean? has SCOTUS considered the constitutionality of those issues or has it not?

Now you're discussing Trent Lott, but I've asked you to provide some evidence of your earlier assertion: Again, kindly demonstrate how I share any prejudices with the Democrat Party.

I'm not here to give you a history lesson of the Supreme Court decisions. Now are you going to answer my question or not?

So you agree with the basic assertion that liberals (all liberals), ALWAYS tend to be bigoted in their views?

I'll have to go back to the ad homs. I really can offer nothing against the mountain of evidence you both have offered. Clearly, all liberals are always bigots.

What can I do against such formidable intellect?

You handle yours very well, I must say!

I am not a constitutional scholar and neither are you. You and I arguing constitutional issues is as productive as the two of us arguing brain surgery techniques.

As in baseball, there are good pitches and bad pitches, but only the umpire can call them balls or strikes. In our country, there are good laws and bad laws, but only the SCOTUS is the final arbiter as to whether or not those laws are constitutional. The supreme court has had ample opportunity to declare all of the programs you list unconstitutional and, to date, has not availed itself of that opportunity. I'm sorry.

The SCOTUS is not infallible, is it?

I'm not expecting you to be a constitutional scholar; nor is the Constitution a lengthy, complex document. I am simply asking you to explain in your own words your methodology for thinking that any one of the issues that I raised is the Constitutional responsibility of the Federal Government. If you want to couch it as "your opinion" in order to give yourself an out later and somehow avoid embarrassment because of your lack of knowledge, then so be it.

The supreme court has had ample opportunity to declare all of the programs you list unconstitutional and, to date, has not availed itself of that opportunity.

So that means, whatever it is, unless the SCOTUS rules, it IS constitutional? Like when we enslaved black people, and the SCOTUS had ample opportunity to declare it unconstitutional, but didn't? So your argument back then would have been, since the men in black robes hadn't declared it unconstitutional, it IS constitutional to own slaves? The Constitution gives us that right, because the SCOTUS hasn't ruled otherwise, is that what you are saying here?

Whether or not the SCOTUS has or has not ruled on a particular issue, doesn't make it "constitutional" or "unconstitutional" in principle. The SCOTUS has often been very very wrong.

absolutely. before the 13th amendment, it WAS constitutional to own slaves.

Why can't you explain your take on it?

Who said I "can't"?

My take is: I see nothing in the constitution that would prohibit those programs... apparently... neither does SCOTUS.

If you have a problem with that, I suggest you take it up with them... I really have no say on the issue.

Where are they enumerated?
