less gun deaths in England

So was Ted Haggard.

So, which of the Royal Asses (otherwise known as the 3 Kings) posts threads titled 'gun porn'?
Pardon me if you are so intellectually inept as to be unable to discern common expressions and interpret them literally.

"We" being those who fantasize about sex when a routine gun maintenance procedure is mentioned? Hmmmm.

if you want to stick with that foolishness, whatever. it says more about the coward who's so afraid of guns that they do all they can to paint gunowners as perverts.

Laws prohibiting theft, murder and rape don't "work" either, do they? Now, apply your logic to those behaviors.
Those laws are to punish acts, not prevent them. =/=

what it does show is that gun control is a failure. It keeps decent people defenseless while it does nothing to prevent someone with murderous intent from obtaining a handgun.

Thanks for admitting that you're not a decent person.

Bullshit, there is no groundswell of people in this country demanding to be armed. You are trying desperately to make something out of nothing.

obfuscate much? I didn't make it a point of brits now wanting to be armed, I made a point of gun control being a total failure, as indicated by the ease that a thug obtained a handgun via a phone call.

Good, now push yourself, and apply that principle to other laws....say, gun regulation. You can do it!
What sort of crime have I committed in owning a gun? How is society or an individual harmed?

None, that I know of, and since you live in continual fear that "someone" might "get you", it'd be mean to try and take it from you.

The only way society could be harmed would be if you use it on yourself or another.

But that never happens, does it?

There are laws against doing harm to others, why would you punish those who have no wish to so?
Also, where exactly am I 'afraid'? Please point this out to me.

I was mistaken. You've never claimed to need a gun to defend yourself from a criminal or your own government.

So being prepared for a possibility = fear now? You also failed to address my first point.

Apparently you believe that laws that prevent people from doing harm to others punish those who have no wish to do so.

Dos that mean that laws preventing, say, driving at 50 MPH in a school zone punish people who have no wish to speed?

What laws prevent speeding exactly? And again, who is harmed by my owning guns? You've failed to address that multiple times now.

You're right again.

Laws prohibiting speeding don't prevent behavior, they punish proscribed behavior. Now, can you explain how that punishment punished those with no desire to speed?

Did I say anyone was harmed by your habit of hoarding guns and ammunition?

These slogans should be reworded, I guess.

It's not for me to determine what other people should or should not be afraid of, but to remain on topic (after a fashion) we were talking about me, not a fringe of a 100,000,000 person group.

No, but you certainly would punish me none the less for doing something that cannot in and of itself harm others. Speeding can (though the laws governing speed limits are dubious at best)

I woud? How?

Because cars operate themselves in an unsafe manner - in and of themselves, unlike guns, which don't?
