Like Jordan is some principled actor in all this. What exactly was he going to do to move this country in a different direction? It's easy to be a bomb thrower (from the right or left) when you're in a gerrymandered safe seat in Congress and that's what the Freedom Caucus is. Funny how when Republicans controlled Congress and Trump was President we still had trillion dollar deficits. Where was the Freedom Caucus then? I don't recall them saying we should shut down the government because of over spending. Nah, they supported it like everyone else in the 'uniparty' because it was their side doing it. This is all theater.

Oh I think this was a big day. It was a sea change for the GOP and is proof that MAGA’s supporters influence in Congress has declined substantially. The GOP knows that placing an extremist and an insurrectionist into the SOH position would mean a blue wave in Nov 2024.

However knowing the red necks of his district like I do they will still keep voting for the Cheeseheaded prick.

Oh hell no. Gaetz has just relegated himself to a career back bencher assuming he can get re-elected now. This whole cluster fuck is Gaetz fault. However in the short term Gaetz did the nation a huge favor by inadvertently discrediting the most extreme member of Congress. I even wonder now if Jordan will remain chairman of the Judiciary Committee as he made a huge mistake in having his allies harass fellow party members with the degree of viciousness that occurred. I personally thin the GOP will relieve him of his chairmanship in the Judiciary committee as pay back as the next candidate won’t have to kiss the Fascist caucus ass. Thanks to Gaetz it looks like Jordan self sabotaged his own political career in congress.

Which couldn’t happen to a finer person.

After the 2024 election Jordan will probably have serious legal problems as a leader in the Jan 6 insurrection.
 
Now what will be interesting to me is how many more "hearings" and "investigation" that Jim "Motor Mouth" Jordan will helm after this humiliation? Also, will the POS get re-elected next cycle?

Gaetz can forget it....there's too much video record of him being a racist, misogynistic POS and MAGA mook extraordinaire. I wonder is he'll be re-elected also?

The Republicans currently have no party. I said the party was imploding a few years ago, now they will try to rebuild, can they?

Maybe a party will rise to the left of the Democrats and the political center of America will shift.

I think their base is perfectly happy with the GOP just being a troll party with no Ideas, no concept of governance, but always equipped with talking points to troll the libs.

If I had a dime for every time a liberal/Democrat proclaimed the Republican Party dead over the past 20 years my daughter's future 'SC education would be close to paid off.

Where is this new leftist political party going to come from? Even in San Francisco, progressives can't win the Mayor's office and complain the 'moderate' Democrats are doing the bidding of the right-wing. (Yeah, that is not a misprint). If you can't win that seat, how do you expect to win anything nationally?

If the Republican Party is exploding and can't govern like so many of you claim then why do Democrats barely control power nationally? I understand in politics it's always easier, and more fun, to talk about the other side but notice how rarely you guys ever talk about your own party. It's total group think. There is literally no critical thinking or anyone holding any contrarian perspectives on almost any issue. So sure it's easy to point out faults of the Republican Party but you are absolutely blind to the faults of the Democrats and why people have issue with your party.


Edit: And I left out the most obvious vis a vis moving to the left, Bernie. Your party twice had an opportunity to nominate Bernie and didn't. If you weren't willing to move to the left with him and his movement/supporters why do you think it's going to be different going forward?

The Repub party has shown clearly that it cannot function. McCarthy gave up the real power in the House to get the title he wanted so badly. Then a small group had the power to eject him and they did. Now we are heading to 3 weeks without a speaker. This has not happened before. The Reds are a 2 party system. They have the GOP and the Insurrectionists party. They cannot work together. The Insurrectionists want to burn it all down. They are winning. They stopped the House from functioning in a world with strife going on, we cannot do a thing. The Reds have the power in the house and all work has stalled. The Dems have never done that.
When the Dems had the power, Pelosi got things done. You have it all wrong.

Can you take a step back and see the big picture, which is what I was talking about and you avoided? My response was about more than the past two weeks. And thanks again for showing there's almost a gene some of you possess that will not allow you to look at your own party with even the slightest critical eye. It would be beyond blasphemy. One may not believe there's a God in the sky but the reverence for the (Democratic) party itself replaces the worship of a God.
