Unarmed yes. Murdered? No. Shot illegally outside federal use of force guidelines? Unquestionably.
Byrd, the officer who shot her was a DEI hire and shielded from firing even after he fucked up--seriously fucked up--on the job repeatedly. He was even promoted to management as a Lieutenant, a position he should never have been put in.
That aside, Byrd's incompetence and cowardice led to an unnecessary use of deadly force. His actions afterwards only cement that. Byrd's incompetence and lack of leadership skills led to her death.
