"Joe the Plumber" running for Congress

Joe the Plumbers running for office?

F that S, i say.

Now, Tito the Builders...that's where a jaded American electorate will find the answers.

Bob the Builder would make more sense.
mind you a comedy cartoon featuring a plumber with a very small brain might be a goer on kids TV.

will you weep if he wins?
I doubt that he does. He's going after another 15 minutes of fame is all. The honest to god's truth is that the real elections in this state are mostly in the primaries. If Joe was a serious candidate he'd be running in a rural Ohio or SW Ohio district which are strongly republican. The reason's he's running in a democratic district that's so strongly gerrymandered that he doesn't stand a chance of winning is because he won't have to fight against a strong Republican opponent in a primary election. Joe's a neophyte playing off of his 15 minutes of fame.

I'll feel sorry for the folks who vote for him.

Remember his utterly stupid remarks about the tax on people earning over $250,000/yr? When it was current news I did a breakdown on Joe's rant. Remember the proposed tax increase on ones earnings going from $250,000/yr to $275,000/yr? The discussion was concerning 3% on the additional $25,000. That's $750.00.

If one considers the $750.00 over the total earnings of $275,000 it is 0.027%. Just a fraction over ¼ of one percent. Expressed another way it is equivalent to 27 cents out of a hundred dollars.

Buying a business! HA! The loser was behind in his land tax and there he was saying having to pay an additional $750 on an income of $275,000/yr would discourage him from buying a business.

Joe the plumber is neither a plumber nor, obviously, a business person. The guy is a buffoon. A general handy man who was star struck because of the Obama exchange and McCain mentioning his name.

It's a sad sign when a major political party encourages such a person to run for Congress.

Thinking about it, he should run with a promise to amalgamate his congressional duties with assuming responsibility for general maintenance.

Elect Joe, sack the janitor, and that deficit will be paid off quicksmart.

Joe the Plumber is no longer a fan of either Sarah Palin or John McCain, it seems.

Joe, also known as Sam Wurzelbacher, told an audience in Pennsylvania this week that McCain "is no public servant."

"McCain was trying to use me," Wurzelbacher said, according to public radio correspondent Scott Detrow. "I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy.”
"I don’t owe him s—," Wurzelbacher continued. "He really screwed my life up, is how I look at it.”

In fact, Wurzelbacher's dislike for McCain is so strong that he no longer supports Sarah Palin simply because Palin will campaign for McCain's re-election.

As for Obama: "I think his ideology is un-American, but he’s one of the more honest politicians. At least he told us what he wanted to do."

Well Annie Joe doesn't agree with you...

How was he played, anyway? He chose to confront Obama. He didn't research the facts of how his taxes would change if he bought the business. The person who used him was McCain, not Obama, and in the end he realized it.

Oh what bull. John McCain and Sarah Palin immediately began using his name in stump speeches and soon had him appearing with them. McCain promised to bring "Joe the Plumber" to DC with him.

The man stepped up in front of a crowd of reporters, and asked a Presidential candidate a question. That's on him.

The Republicans immediately attempted to make him their Mr. Smith. THat's on them.

Get off your cross.

Exactly. Who even heard of him until McCain singled him out during the third debate?

In response to Christie's skepticism, don't forget that Dems and Reps have been winning elections over the last few years in locales that hadn't elected them in decades. Hell, in 2010, the GOP won over the WA-3 for the US House, although that district historically switches parties every 20 years or so...

It's called Gerrymandering dude. Those districts have probably been redrawn multiple times, in that time span, to favor one party or the other. That's why I think we need election reform to end gerrymandering and to make districting geographical so that we have both primaries and general elections that mean something. The current system gives two much power to the extremes of each party (who are also minorities in both parties). It would bring our political system back towards the center where it belings, it would make elections more competative and therefore more representative, it would reduce the influence of the extremes of both parties and would in turn make government more functional.
