Kimmel is still alive and worth $25 million.On Thursday, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” averaged 2.3 million total viewers — a staggering 64% drop from the 6.5 million who tuned in for Tuesday’s much-hyped return.
Kimmel shed even more viewers in the advertiser-coveted demographic of adults aged 25-54, with Thursday’s episode hemorrhaging 73% of viewers from the critical category.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” pulled in 1.7 million viewers among the key demo for Tuesday’s return but plummeted to 465,000 only 48 hours later.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” also lost significant viewers in the younger demographic of adults aged 18-49, managing 1.2 million on Tuesday but quickly losing 73% to settle for only 334,000 on Thursday.

He warned Kimmel that his lie was not "in the public interest." That's his responsibility as a FCC Commissioner.
Kimmel's show frequently has Democrat politicians but rarely has Republican politicians it is basically an in kind political contribution for Democrats.

What I am saying, is if he did it like Ds do, with plausible deniability, Kimmel wouldn't have more than doubled his viewership giving his show new life for a few more months.
Well what Kimmel did was a violation of FCC rules so Carr was giving ABC a reminder to rein him in. NOTHING wrong with that.
The increase in viewership is short term. It would have happened without the perfectly appropriate warning.
Nothing has changed to make Kimmel a late night success. He is not funny as proven by his previous ratings. He is a financial liability who, I believe, will soon be dropped again from his two main carriers.
Plausible deniability is passe.

His contract is up in January if the News report I saw is correct. I doubt he well get a new contract. Late night is dying. I believe if they had made an effort to make fun of both sides and tried to be funny like Carson and Leno they would have a larger audience.
