Jihadists Syria rebels pledge loyalty to Qaeda groups

it's impossible to seperate them.
The Big Idea - even Kerry accepts this.

Even a few months ago -prior to the rise of the Islamists the FSA was saying "we are not allied with Al_Nusra, but they fight besides us on the battlefield"

weapons change hands easily on a battlefield (small arms, mobile platforms)

ask Reagan

can you see the moral quagmire you create for yourself ?

In a war weapons sometimes change hands.

Its battlefield booty.

being an idiot and overstressing about weapon creep in a war is stupid huh

You have a war in which the people are trying to get freedom from a dictator so callous he killed babies in their cribs to win.

You have aa faction so callous they blow up civilians off the battelfeild.

You have a dictator , AQ and freedom fighters.

who do you arm?

There is a plethora of evidence of these same truths, as well as the destroyed example of Libya that demonstrate these same truths.

The question is no longer are we arming and supporting terrorists and jihadists, the question is why are we doing it?

Why is Israel doing it?

you arm the people who havre the best intentions.

You don't them sweat balls about some of those weapons falling into other hands.

Thats fucking war

You just want to color helping the freedom fighters as arming AQ.

It serves your political purposes

thanks man -this one is counter intuitive.

Israel Sides with Syrian Jihadists
Until the declaration by Israel’s Ambassador to the United States Michael Oren on Tuesday, Israel’s precise position on the Syrian civil war was ambiguous, but now it is clear that Israel again is lining up with its new de facto ally, Saudi Arabia, in a regional conflict to undermine Iranian influence

http://consortiumnews.com/2013/09/18/israel-sides-with-syrian-jihadists/

so Israel is willing to arm AL QAEDA - to undermine the Shiite Crescent.....what fools.

The greatest danger to Israel is by the strategic arc that extends from Tehran, to Damascus to Beirut. And we saw the Assad regime as the keystone in that arc,”

Saudi Arabia, which is spearheading the military and intelligence assistance for the Syrian rebels, is concerned itself about what is called the “Shiite crescent” extending from Iran through Iraq and Syria to the Hezbollah enclaves of Lebanon. The Saudis, who follow an ultraconservative form of Sunni Islam, are now viewed in the region as the geopolitical bulwark against the Iran-led Shiite coalition.

Ambassador Oren, who is considered very close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is cited in the Reuters article as saying that while Israel favors the more moderate elements among the Syrian rebels, it still wants Assad’s ouster even if it results in radical Sunni Islamists coming to power in Damascus.

this is our ALLY????

Why should we be arming anyone?

Civil wars are not out business unless and until America and Americans are attacked, are they?

It proves both Isreal and Saudi think assad is more of a danger than ANY of the rebels due to their ties to Iran.

Now how is that BAD like you claim it is?

Are you claiming they both WANT AQ to prevail?

do you think they both prefer the true freedom fighters in the nation?

valid question:

Israel and SA are working together to disjoint the Shiite Crescent (google it -i've posted maps before) -because of the Iranian boogy man.

Rohani is coming to the UN this week - i think SA and Israel are terrified we'll even attempt to normalize relations.

It's a long way to go, but the Sunni Crescent (google it) has benefited by US unfailing alliance (weapons to Israel / SA -more), and they want to continue to be the US 'go to' guys in the region.

Best for the US to remain neutral, and play the 2 sides into a balance of power - our best interest - is to have a stable region.

This means making nice with Iran, which I favor - if not normalization, at least stop trying to undermine Iran.

I'm not that worried about a nuclear Iran - legimate area od disagreement - but a nuclear Iran doesn't really change the balance of power.

Iran can't use a nuke more then any other country.
