Ukraine joined the UN as the Soviet Socialist Republic of Ukraine in 1945.
It, along with Belarus, are the only former Soviet Republics that signed the UN charter as independent nations.

Ukraine was admitted as an independent republic to the United Nations along with Byelorussia in 1945.
One of the few things the Soviets can get credit for is rejecting the tsarist policy of Russian Imperialism and at least nominally recognizing the different unique nationalities in the former Russian empire, and allowing those nationalities to have their own autonomous republics, albeit under the guidance of Moscow.
They are COMPLETELY different entities that don't even share the same borders.
And it doesn't matter anyway since Ukraine signed the UN charter as its own nation in 1945...so there goes any Russian claim on Ukraine.

Again- the USSR ( Russia plus satellites ) founded the UN in 1945. Try claiming that soviet satellite states were not legally under Russian authority.
