And you have to be thick as a plank to gloss over the first post, which is that cons bitched and moaned when Bill Clinton appointed his wife to head a health care panel (UNPAID, just like Ivanka), yet you all give trump a pass for putting his inexperienced daughter at his right hand with top security clearance.

What experience did Obama have to gain his top security clearance?

I just really don't see the issue here. If she was some non family member, who would care? And if she is, as long as she isn't breaking any laws, I could care less. Especially since my understanding is that she keeps her dad in check by being more mellow or whatever.

Are you saying Obama had a top secret security clearance before he was president?

I care about people who get that kind of clearance. AFAIK Michelle didn't get this and she had an official title. Why does Ivanka need the highest level of clearance?

I could never be jealous of anyone with ties to trump either by blood or marriage.

I'm confident that there are higher security clearances than that.

I think you're making a big deal out of nothing. And don't forget, Obama didn't have much experience, other than being a community organizer and a candidate, when he became president. My point being, what does experience have to do with it? If she is cleared, then what difference does it make to you?

I had lots of problems with the bullshit she intended to pass.....fortunately Democrats did then as well......more proof that Democrats have been getting dumber over the years......

One of my points is that if a person is elected president he gets top security clearance no matter how much experience he brings to the office, and I accept that. trump had zero government experience as an example. I'm not certain about Obama but he was a US senator and privy to some sensitive info so he, like others in Congress, may have had a clearance.

My biggest point is about Hillary as first lady and how cons bitched and moaned that Bill gave her an UNPAID government job. At least she was qualified for it, based on her experience and education. Ivanka is a jewelry designer with zero experience in government, public service or politics, and she suddenly gets elevated to a position where she can get top secret info.

Then there's her husband, also getting a new job created just for him, along with "a wide-ranging portfolio encompassing foreign policy, despite having no experience in international relations."

None of this may be illegal but it all raises ethical questions in my mind

It was only months ago when cons here ripped Chelsea Clinton a new one because she held a position in her family's foundation, an unpaid position that required no security clearances. But not a word out of cons about the trump family having access to the top secrets of government. It just stinks.
