I'm a Yang guy. For some reason, smart, practical & common sense candidates rarely break through in the primaries, but he was one of the best candidates in 2020, imo.
He made a great point yesterday. He said to imagine a major sports league where there are only 2 teams. In sports, things get as crazy passionate as they get in politics, and you start to hate the other side and completely demonize them as time goes on. And that is exactly what has happened in politics. They showed a poll while he was talking that had over 80% of both Dems and Republicans saying that they think the other side will destroy the country. Republicans now see Democrats as the enemy, and as a threat - and Dems feel the same about Republicans.
That isn't sustainable.
And we have both parties now catering to their fringe elements. Leaving the sane majority who reside more in the middle left out.
I will strongly support the centrist party that Yang and his group are trying to get off the ground for 2024. We need to get away from the 2-party system.
I'd be up for that, as long as there is also a Trump Party to take votes away from the (R) wingnuts. Otherwise you end up with the rational voters, who are mostly (D) these days, splitting their votes and allowing #TRE45ON back on the throne. We tried that, it didn't work. Let's not go there again.
The (D)s would be well-advised to shake Biden's hand, give him a nice watch, and look for younger candidates.
