Fact: The types of laws you want to put in place will only affect the law abiding gun owners. Since most, nearly all, gun related homicides are done by people who don't possess the gun legally, tell me how you deal with them?

is it your contention that DUI checkpoints ONLY stop people who are drunk? that NOBODY who has NOT been drinking is ever stopped? your answer consists of the same illogical bullshit that the anti gunners have about gun free zones. I don't like your answer because you're wrong, as usual.

If you are stopped at a check point and you have done nothing wrong are you effected? Yes in that you have been lawfully detained for a short period of time. So yes it does effect those stopped.

Are you saying that having to stop at a red light or stop sign means you've been detained? The law says you have to stop at those. If you want to drive faster than the posted speed limit, does the law saying you can only go so fast mean you've been detained?

Yes. I was in a long line for a checkpoint when I had to take a leak real bad. They would not let me through. The Michigan Supreme Court outlawed them soon after. You have to actually have evidence to pull people over.

Totally different. Red lights and stop signs are a normal part of driving. However traffic checkpoints are a random thing that move from place to place and you are being ordered to stop by a licensed police officer that sport is being detain because you are not free to go until released.

Are you saying drunk driving is a normal part of driving?

Location doesn't change that both stop you and limit your movement while driving. Can you move on in traffic when the light is red? Can you ignore that stop sign because no one is coming in other directions?

Hopefully one of those drunk drivers that could be stopped will be the one that hits the person you care for the most. Not you. You should have to live with knowing what happened.
