I've never defended the fucking racists, regardless of skin-tone or political affiliation. Hate between Americans is bad for America. If you aren't part of the solution then you are part of the problem. Threads like this are part of the problem. They're just trolling. Lots of that on JPP but in this case it's Liberals trolling the United States military, something that I do take very personal as a retired veteran from a family of veterans. In one case, still on active duty with three years of his life in Iraq or Afghanistan. I strongly doubt any of the assholes attacking the United States military are veterans themselves.

People who get offended by any legitimate critique of a group they are part of, are thin skinned crybabies IMO and deserve the butt hurting they get.
My dad spent 24 years in the armed forces.
He fought on the battlefields of Europe during WWII.
He killed other men for his country and never complained.
But even he told me personally that there were some low-life and undesirable types in the military.
It's just a fact of life that nobody and no group of people are perfect.
If you want to cry and shit your diaper every time someone levels legitimate criticism of the military, have at it.
But don't complain when you get scoffed at for it.

Prior to that, Wilson, FDR, Truman, JFK and LBJ loooooved US troops as much as they liked sending them to war.
The military has been the training ground for cops and white nationalists. Many of them are Trumpies. Many military leaders are if the same mindset.
Look at the Trump rioters. Many were off-duty cops, ex-military and white supremacists. They are dangerous.
Pointing out that they were wearing fatigues and military gear is fair.

This one is a bridge too far for me. Our military take an oath, and absent any evidence to the contrary, I have no reason to believe they will violate that oath. We can't start giving political tests to decide who gets to serve and whether they are serving honorably.
I believe this to be far more true for police than for the military. Look no further than the statement from the Joint Chiefs, and sheer volume of ex military leaders that have spoken out against the President. You have seen no such response from leadership in police forces.

Most of the vets on this forum served honorably. Just because some are nuts now doesn't change that fact. I have no doubt that the USAF LTC who will probably be guilty of sedition served honorably based on the sole fact he retired a LTC**.
Regardless, the Pentagon is going after all active duty personnel who participated in sedition, the riot or any other anti-American activities such as seeking to overthrow the government or election. It doesn't matter if they did these things in person or on Facebook. Our military, the military of the United States of America, takes these crimes very seriously. Like the LTC, if they are retired with a pension, they could easily lose that pension. Time will tell.
I fully support the arrest and prosecution of all criminals regardless of political affiliation, religion, skin-tone or anything else.
** in the Air Force, any officer who didn't retire as a full Colonel fucked up somewhere along the line. In Earl's case, he started out as an enlisted man and earned his commision later so retiring as a Captain is understandable.
