Is the military taking a public relations hit on this?

Of course there are bad apples in the military, anyone who has served knows that. If you want to experience life in a way few do, enlist and go through basic training. Of course it may have changed since I served. But it is a tough experience and many can't make it. Once you passed that test there are other tests, schooling etc and the rigmarole of service. I still have contact with many who served during Nam and they are liberal, conservative, and everything in between. Question, do bad apples make the human race bad? Do bad Christians make Christians bad. Any need to go on...

WHERE ARE ANY THREADS BY ANY MILITARY PEOPLE HERE THE SUBJECT OF WHICH IS TO DECRY THE DEPLORABLE SCUMBAGS WHO ATTACKED THE UNITED STATES CAPITOL.

they are probably waiting for someone who gives a fuck about the United States capital to start a thread asking.......

You have totally taken the point being made here personally and you're looking for a reason to get offended.

Nobody said the US military was all scumbags or mostly scumbags.

But the truth is that there are a lot of them.

That is just the plain truth.

Chill the fuck out out and dial your poutrage back a notch or two.
You are part of the problem. You are attacking American men and women in uniform using the large, wide brush the racists use against African-Americans. How do you expect Americans to ever trust Democrats when you are as bad as the fucking racists?

Look at your wording altered below and tell me if you still agree with it:

Can you see the inherent bias and bigotry in your own words? Now apply that to this entire thread. Specifically to your posts and those of your fellow military haters.

Sorry but you're just pushing some agenda here.

Maybe you were once in the military and you've got a thin skin when it comes to criticism of something you were a part of.

..

Yes, my suspicion also. I apologize to him because that isn't the tenor of the thread. Mine is self evident, but since he likes
a comparison, it is very similar to my beliefs that Islam has terrorists within it, almost all at least state side are law abiding,
the people quite foreseeably went off the deep end assuming it was a violent religion and suspecting everyone, and I disagreed with that, but I faulted Islam ...for wait for it....
NOT BEING MORE VOCAL IN THEIR SHOUTING DOWN AND HOLDING CULPABLE PUBLICLY THEIR CONTEMPT AND THAT THEY
DID NOT SUPPORT THE TERRORISTS IN THEIR MIDST. Exact same principle at work here, hence "PR hit"

and my thinking is exactly what inspired our join chiefs of staff to issue a statement yesterday.

I think its funny I am a "left wing extremist."

I agree with both statements, and you can put whites in the group too, or Asians, or leprechauns.

Nomad is right, you pushed a bit far and are too ego driven to walk anything back.

Your comparison of lumping the entire military (something I didn't see being done here) to the right's blanket condemnation of Islam for the actions of a relative few is valid, but I can't blame run of the mill Muslims who have to live amidst these violent fanatics for remaining silent, given the grisly, horrifying fate that would probably be in store for them if they spoke up.

There are good and bad people within any group.

We all know that.

Bold is a facet of it that had not occurred to me. Do you think the same principle is at play in the military, or in the broader Republican party, that is
the "either you are with us or against us" syndrome coupled with fear or reprisal?

Dude.... your re-wording of my remarks is not even as bad as the way a lot of members of the socially conservative right see not only blacks, but pretty much everyone they see as being outside their own little sphere.

There ARE black people who are scumbags.

There aere ALSO white people who are scumbags.

Big deal.

Not a profound revelation for most people.

Every group or category of people has it's rotten apples.

So the point you THINK you're making only reinforces what I said, and which has gotten you so upset.

Are MOST military personnel good, decent, patriotic Americans who are proud to serve their country with honor and integrity?

OF COURSE THEY ARE.

DUH!!!

My dad was one of them.

But if you're trying to muddle or obscure the FACT that the military also has its share of dirtbags and criminals, then IT'S YOU WHO ARE PART OF "THE PROBLEM", not me just because I speak honestly and realistically.

Ask yourself this.... why is there is a military police force on every US military base?

Why is there a UCMJ?

Because the military has people in it who break laws and commit crimes that are prosecutable under both civilian law and under the UCMJ as well.

Grow up.

Maybe, but to a much, MUCH lesser degree.

People in the military and the GOP don't have to worry about being kidnapped or dragged out of their homes at night, then tortured to death like people who live in places like Iraq and Afghanistan do.

They know good and well what will happen to not only themselves but to their families and children if the publicly mouth off against the fanatics.

Like many Germans under Hitler and Russians under Stalin, I would stay silent too.

No, they don't. You are committing the same level of bigotry as those who look at the race of murderers in the FBI stats and using that to broadbrush 15% of all Americans. It's wrong and it's twisting the truth.

This entire thread is a classic Liberal attack against all military personnel, past and present.

This conversation is already irritating me. Your mistake is assuming that the people you talk to online haven't served in the militsry. In 2008 the PA National Guard was passing as many people as possible through basic. Kids who didn't even know how to clean a rifle were sen to AIT after only five weeks.

dutch uncle never served in the military, he's a fake vet, stolen valor piece of human trash.

I meant stateside. I was critical of US Islamic clerical leaders for being not as vocal as I would have liked and expected
in the wake of the WTC attacks and when everyone was especially worried. But that whole thing is digression to
provide FBI dude a teachable example. We don't need a population in fear of our US military. The paramilitary flava
of the terrorists leans into those fears. Eagle eye wins the award and FBI dude gets honorable mention.

I'm glad there are a couple who at least partially erode the point. But the kicker is the Joint Chiefs made the right call,
that should give everyone the comforting words they need to hear right now.

Because you wouldn't brag about it online or screech "stolen valor" every minute like you have autism.

I haven't bragged about shit.

The day I came back here. Dutch uncle whom I never met accused me of stolen valor out of the blue,. then during talks with him, his story became very suspect, retired/active navy/marine c-46 pilot who never was even close to any conflict then his wierd comment to me that if I thought he was impersonating an officer I should contact the fbi.... His story doesn't jive.

The guy is an asshole, has caused me real life issues and is extremely bigoted. I have no time for that.

here ya go:

https://www.justplainpolitics.com/s...-Corona-Explodes-to-61!&p=4129413#post4129413

within 10 posts he accuses me of stolen valor after picking a fight out of the blue.

Since you don't want to mind your own business, you should at least be fully informed.

He claims he joined in 1975 avoided all conflicts and is still active duty c-46 pilot?

That's 46 year service. that would make him at minimum 64 years old.

Think a competent officer would not behave like him and have a command by now. or at least be retired.

Disagreed. This isn't about my fucking ego, it's about your multiple posts, both on this thread and others, where you attacked American men and women in uniform just as the fucking racists attack minorities.

How would you know that. Have a discussion using military jargon and whatnot. Should only take a few
lines of extemporaneous back and forth to establish it. I don't know the jargon, so it would be obvious
I never served. Why wouldn't that apply to Pass the Dutchy on the left hand side.
