Americans need Jesus. But that is up to each individual, AS an individual.Distraction?
America needs Jesus, that's not a distraction.
America is a country made of people of varying faiths. As a Christian, I would love to see all come to Jesus, but that is NOT going to happen via our government, nor would I want to see it happen through government. "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's" applies here. Government belongs to Caesar. Faith belongs to God, and government should not play a direct role in that. Trying to do so would not only go against the precepts this nation was founded on, it would be a distraction from government (Caesar) doing what government is supposed to do.
There is nothing wrong with wanting men of God in government. There is something wrong with wanting to use government to force others to faith. What is forced faith? It definitely does not come from God, nor is it of God. I will not play a role that, nor support those who would.
Though the limit on role off faith and government also includes not playing a suppressive role. Maybe if the anti-religious would quit telling us where and under what circumstances we are "allowed" to express our faith, (while hypocritically allowing other faiths special considerations under the PC clause) then just maybe there would not be a proliferation of far right Christians wanting to go to the other extreme.
