Irony

I mean, the bolded is impossibly stupid.
why?.....because it meets the rule you've set for stupidity?......I would think that its fairly obvious.......those who set lines complain when they think someone has crossed it.....perhaps liberals have lost sight of that basic truth after following the leadership of someone who thinks the proper thing to do when someone crosses your line is to draw a different line in the sand....everyone sets different lines but most people react the same way when their lines are crossed......

And where in that statement am I saying that people don't have a right to criticize the Dixie Chicks?

Do you have ANY idea what happened during the early years of the Iraq War?

You're exactly the kind of hypocritical buffoon I'm talking about.

Pucker up, cunt licker.

oh for fucks sake.....do you actually find it impossible to admit that when you say something is absolutely disgusting we are allowed to believe you think its wrong?.....

Oh, my god. And you vote?

And what did I say was disgusting, PMP? This should be interesting.

Did I say that everyone had to agree w/ the Dixie Chicks, or they're disgusting...or something like that as you continue to warp and twist this?

How is it even an issue what Trump thought about the war? He wasn't the candidate that voted to authorize the damn war

That is the point. They know Crooked ILLary voted for the war and they are trying to distract from that inconvenient fact. It was probably the single biggest missed opportunity by Trump the other night. All he had to do is say "Show of hands, who in this room actually cast a vote to go to Iraq?". Game. Set. Match

Of course it is always easy to say when you aren't under the lights

That you're voting for Hillary.

I was watching "Shut Up & Sing" about the insane backlash the Dixie Chicks had to face after speaking out against Bush & the Iraq War.

I changed the channels, and there was Trump, speaking to a southern audience, claiming that he opposed the Iraq war from day 1 - and getting wild applause & cheers.
I'll be honest with you. What Nataly Maines (sp?) did was pretty dumb. Was she and her band mates that clueless about their audience?

There is no questioning that as Americans the Dixie Chicks have every right to their opinion on politics and I don't necessarily disagree with what they said but to call President Bush, who was hugely popular with their audience an embarrassment to the nation was just an incredibly dumb thing to do from a business standpoint.

Though I think some of the blow back was over the top what did they expect? The fact that it hurt them commercially is something I will not shed a tear for.

A big part of it was they did it while it was going on and they did it overseas.
...and they did it knowing that President Bush was hugely popular with their hillbilly fans.

It doesn't take much courage for a Bruce Springsteen to say that. Not to many rednecks listen to his music but for a Country music band to do that was, from a commercial standpoint, suicidal.

You're right. A rapper could come out today and say they support Trump. They have every right to do so but chances are its at odds with much of their fan base and would lose them credibility and many insults would be heaped upon them.

I didn't shed tears, but I thought it was a dark time for free speech. We shouldn't have an expression along the line of getting "Dixie Chick'd."

As I've said: if you don't like someone's opinion, counter it. Make your argument & try to prevail in the marketplace of ideas.

Just trying to shut someone up? Pretty sad, imo. Weak.

For the record, I hate hearing about entertainers losing jobs in Hollywood or wherever because they're on the right. I thought the left's reaction to Stacey Dash supporting Romney was embarrassing.

Well why do you think so many people think he lost the debate? Instead of going on the defensive he should have attacked Hillary on that point.
