"Intelligent design" creationism basically finished

Dr. Robert Hazen, a graduate of MIT, Harvard, and a prominent researcher in the origin of life isn't afraid of saying that many people invoke or speculate that the origin of cellular life was a miracle. Why be afraid to acknowledge it?

His job is then to focus the class' attention on testable hypotheses, like the chemical origins of cellular life from prebiotic material.

It seems pretty simpleminded, that this universe, this planet our body's,just came into existence with out some engineering!Who is that engineer is the question.

The nature of existence is matter, space and time exist

They interact

That interaction causes the matter to evolve and change over time

Given Enough time many conditions are created

Some of those conditions created the possibility of things like us forming

Our existence proves that to be very possible

Of course we don’t understand all of the processes yet

Many we now understand we’re once unknown by man and considered by some unknowable by man

That was proven incorrect

We will know at some point if conditions allow us the time

A brain needs engineering,a heart needs engineering,a gall bladder needs engineering,ETC!

Sure, everyone is entitled to an opinion on religion.

I think of God, Brahman, and The Dao as human attempts to anthropomorphize the mystery of the infinite.

There is an enormous amount we don't know about the cosmos and even about mathmatics. Some of the answers we may never know, like the origin of the physical laws, the arbitraty nature of the physical constants, the mathmatically implausible fine tuning of the universe.

My personal opinion is that it is hubris to assume our souped-up chimpanzee brains can, or ever will, know the true nature of everything and of all reality.

A good dose of LSD might help you root around in that brain and see what's in the vault!

I'm not an atheist - but I find that to be poor logic for the existence of a creator.

Something like the universe can't come into existence on its own - but an ominiscient, all-powerful being just always existed?

You run into the same issues explaining how a creator came into being as you would w/ the universe coming into being...

The creation of the physical universe wasn't an action, but a reaction.

Occam's Razor makes it more likely than that the world we see around us just happened randomly.......

The Divine Right of Kings

It is mathematically impossible for any species to survive very long through pure luck. Random chaos is not the alternative to theistic intelligence. Individualistic intelligence modifying the chaos is. Species go extinct when the most intelligent in them are overpowered by the most predatory. Theistic creation is a tool of the predators. Whoever preaches about a Higher Power outside of our own most talented is thought to be God's representative on Earth.

I am not partial to anthrocentric words like watchmaker, deity, spirit. Its the same mistake the Medieval Church made, putting humans at the center of all reality.

I am probably one of the few on this board that will eschew absolute certainty and confess to ignorance.

I have no idea if there is some higher organizing principle underlying reality which our simian brains lack the capacity to fathom.

Or whether there is just an inert mathmatical scaffolding our minds can access and which explains everything about the cosmos.

"Putting humans at the center of all reality" is why I don't deal with churches.
The human spirit is the one thing out of balance in the physical universe, put those Spirits in human flesh and you have an out of control unpredictable situation, like no where else in Heaven or Hell.

After creationism was shot down by the courts, ID was evangelical Christianity's next attempt to sneak creationism into science education via the Trojan horse of ID.

I'm against any religion being taught in school!
Lots of Christians want Christianity in school, but would shit their pants when a Muslim pulled out a pray rug and prayed facing Mecca!

Which is what theists say when asked for proof of God. Like, it's like uh...man, lots of stuff in the world..,mysterious n'stuff!!!

as opposed to scientists who make up proof of stuff like climate change, mRNA vaccines, big bang and evolution. maybe one day the truth will emerge b2ut its just talk now.
