That is incredible. Achieving performance of a 911 Porsche with the gas mileage of a hybrid civic. Maybe they should ship some of these kids out to Detroit to teach the CEO's of GM and Ford how to build vehicles.

I hope they achieve their next goal. 100 mpg would be awesome.

[sarcasm]The auto manufacturers are in cahoots with the oil and gas industry. Don't you know that this technology has been around for years and years but hasn't been let loose on the market yet? Geez....get with it folks.[/sarcasm]

Seriously, congrats to these kids. I always love to see things like this out of students trying to do more than "make a grade."

CEO's don't build or design cars. That's what engineers do.

Yep. My father-in-law engineered at Corvett for years. Is now semi-retired but is considering taking a position with Ford in improving their F-150's. Hope he does, I will be needing a new truck in a couple of years. :)

He should hook me up with a Corvette.

LOL....I used to drive some around the test track there in Bowling Green on occasion and my wife's dad could bring one home to drive anywhere...it was fun. But as far as owning one I wouldn't. I'd have the thing tore up pretty quickly out here where I live.

I appreciate that from you.

Good job!

Now do a pickup truck. I'd love to have a vehicle that can pull my trailers and get that kind of mileage without skipping a beat.

Thank you CaptObvious.... but it is obvious the CEOs are not learning from their engineers which cars are the best to bring to market. Hence my suggestion that they be shown how to build a truly innovative car.

Ok using this is an example; Is it able to be mass produced? Can the car operate for at least 300,000 miles? Emissions?

Again this is impressive, however it's still a long way from a finished product.

amen....to me it seems like they are missing a beat....they try to figure out how to make batteries small enough to fit into a Prius body when they could use the entire bed of a pickup for battery space and only lose a few inches of carry space....

Did you see the episode of "Monster Garage", where Jesse James built that trike using a Semi's deisel engine?

I wonder what kind of gas milage something like that would get?

Sweet use of existing technology. Now some bailed-out auto maker can but the rights and shelve it. Dream on if you think it'll ever make it near production.
