I'm Sure This is Just a Coincidence

It's the equivalent of a poll tax, which was outlawed by SCOTUS.

Proving you have the right to vote is not a poll tax by any stretch of the imagination, and its the CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY of the government to see that only citizens
are voting.....

As long as they can prove they are legal according to the voting laws in their state, it's fine with me.

The voting laws of the state do not supersede the Constitution...you MUST BE A CITIZEN first and foremost.

People prove they have the right to vote when they submit a voter application properly filled out, and the election bureau checks it before issuing a voter card.

That's hilarious. So you want the federal government to spend money so that people can get state-issued identification because Republican passed stupid laws. And here I thought you were a small-government type. What's more, you want the funding to come from some other existing government program of a new tax to pay for it and you want it implemented immediately. And if the Democrats don't pass it, it is on them. You're a riot.

LMAO... So again... all of the money wasted fighting this issue to begin with would have paid for it. Your solution is to continue supressing these people so they cannot work and are forced to remain on the government tit... all because you would rather the idiots in DC keep wasting $500 million on Solyndra type deals rather than ensure people have ID's for all they are required for....at HALF the cost of Solyndra?

Yeah... I would take the money in a heart beat from the government program that trys to pick winners among corporations. No more funding Solyndra or Pelosi's solar company with tax payers dollars until this great issue the Dems love bitching about (but never DOING anything about).

DO tell us... how is it any different than requiring people to show ID to get a job? To cash their paycheck? to FLY.... etc...???

The problem is the voter ID laws. You're trying to solve a problem created by the Voter ID laws. If you just get rid of the Voter ID laws, there is no problem.

Yes, there is. There is the problem that 21 Million Americans don't have ID. ID that is required for employment, check cashing, financial accounts etc.... this solves all the issues.

Requiring someone to prove their identity in order to vote for our leaders is hardly a major issue... unless you are one of those who are worried it might prevent something other than the ability to vote? Perhaps the ability to vote more than once? or to vote without being a citizen?

They are all discussed at length in the report linked at the OP. That you are unaware of them is not surprising. It may explain why you can't see the obvious: Republicans are engaged in a coordinated voter suppression campaign.

I did not state I was unaware of them you hack. I said I discussed the biggest one. I also stated if you wish to discuss any of the others in particular, to state which ones and then we can discuss them. But instead you chose to simply revert into your stupid fucking attack mode.

That makes a lot of sense, SF. You should keep repeating that over and over. It's an argument with tremendous merit.

LMAO.... good job ducking the question. Those VERY same people can't get a fucking JOB without an ID, but you are OK with that. Like I stated, you don't want this issue resolved any more than your Dem masters.

People CLAIM they have the right to vote when they submit a voter application...they don't PROVE anything....
A drivers license will get you registered to vote, it doesn't prove you're a citizen and election bureau checks NOTHING before issuing a voter card..well, maybe the address you claimed was yours, but then voters are well know to register with empty lots as a address....

You're starting to lose your grip on reality over this subject....

What piece of paper do you think people need to prove they're citizens?

Thats true.....fraud is hard to uncover and by the time it is, its too late to change....

Poor Blabo.

How many convictions for voter impersonation have there been, Blabo?

Is it under 100?

The laws serve no purpose whatsoever other than to suppress potential Democratic voters from voting. Whether it would be a good idea for people to have identification (and voter ID laws are just a part of the suppression effort) is irrelevant.

Why do you see voter fraud as irrelevant?

Adding layers to the voting process WILL reduce the # of voters statistically. You can call it whatever you want.

And it is no coincidence that the GOP is consistently the party that wants to add more layers, and opposes measures like motor-voter. They benefit from fewer people voting. If we had 100% turnout in this country, the political landscape would look much different. The Republican party would basically look like it does in NY or MA.

Please explain how asking the voter to show ID, adds a "layer"?

21 million people don't have a government issued ID. That'a lot of people automatically disqualified from voting. And for no good reason.

And, like I said, that's just one part of the suppression efforts.

See now, there's your problem. You just haven't realized it yet.
The Government is not creating any barriers to those people getting an ID.
Ergo: They have disqualified themselves and not the Government.
