It has come out that the 6th accused in the violent Delhi gang rape is a Muslim. Unsurprisingly, 17-year-old Mohammed Afroz was also the most brutal of the group. The youth raped the victim twice, including with an iron rod, and pulled out part of the victim's intestines with his bare hands.

The war on women is very real. However, the words of a few right-wing US politicians pale in comparison to the actions of radical Muslim men around the world. Hatred and oppression of women is the foundation of their religion.

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that all Muslim men are pigs. But I would suggest that a disproportionate number of them are pigs, when compared to men of other religions. Of all the major religions, Islam is most hostile toward women, and I don't think any sane person would deny that.

Yes, in fact, you may be surprised to know that I think the Bible is worse than the Quran in many respects. I've read most of both books. But on the other hand, you won't find many Jews or Christians acting out on it. My craziest Christian friends and relatives believe women don't belong in the workplace. But they don't believe it is acceptable to beat a woman, or that women are their "property."

Mostly Christians, I assume, since the majority of the country identifies themselves as Christian. I'm not saying Christians are never violent. But unlike Islam, violence is not a pillar of their religion. Muslim men are violent because violence is sanctioned by their religion. It is how their prophet lived his life, and they are following his example.

And yet, it seems the only one defending the religion of rape is you, Christiefan. As far as I can tell, you're the only person on this forum that will actually go out of their way (even pulling up bullshit sources, like pro-Islamic websites) to defend that sickening, backward religion responsible for more harm toward women than any other religion or ideology in the modern world. If people like you would simply accept that there is a problem, perhaps there is something that could be done about it, such as education programs geared toward integrating Muslim men into western society. But instead, people like you choose to ignore the problem, to your own peril.

It was an inexcusable failure by House Republican leaders and one that will have real-life implications for women who now find themselves with nowhere to turn for help. It was also another reminder, coming on the same day that House Republican leaders refused to pass aid to states ravaged by Superstorm Sandy, that these leaders continue to answer to the most radical elements of their party regardless of who or what is at stake.
 
There have been dozens of rape stories and a culture of ignoring them, coming out of India recently. The opposition comes primarily from those who have rejected faith of all types and have instead embraced science and reason. It has nothing to do with Islam. It appears you are simply trying to convince women that they need the protection of Christian fundies.

What you don't know is that there's no "religion of rape", no matter how much you want there to be.

Here are some 2010 statistics for you: USA Rate of rape per 100,000 population: 27.3 India Rate of rape per 100,000 population: 1.8

The countries with the highest number of rapes, over 30 per 100,000 population, are not Muslim countries. They include Botswana, Sweden, South Africa, Grenada, Nicaragua.

So take your phony, Islamophopic rant and stick it where the sun don't shine. Facts don't lie.

The Republican Party has been hijacked by the radical right; I agree allowing the VAWA is a problem. That, combined with a number of other issues, will probably prevent me from voting Republican in '14 (depending on the candidate). However, I reiterate that even the nuttiest Christians pale in comparison to radical Islam. Where would you prefer to live: a country controlled by the radical elements of the Republican Party, or Iran?

For all intents and purposes, religion causes social harm wherever it is prevalent. But the worst of all religions - not only toward women, but toward reason and progress as well - is Islam.
