If solar panels are considered green, why do they produce so much toxic waste?

There is a huge problem with toxic waste from solar panels but nobody seems to want to address it seriously. Cadmium, lead and arsenic are used extensively in their manufacture and nitrogen trifluoride, a greenhouse gas over 17,000 times more potent than CO2, is produced during their lifetime of 20-30 years. This is an environmental nightmare being stored up for the future yet you'll never hear it talked about by environmentalists, liberal politicians and news outlets.

Who gives a fuck about toxic waste? We allow it in the business friendly public water supply in the US.

I've addressed it before. I have been critical of the cult of techno-optimism. I have argued that the DNC's platform on these issues is completely wrong-headed. I champion sustainable living practices. Not sure what more you want.
