Yaweh did not write the old testament. The stories were written by Hebrew scribes telling stories loosely based on events that purportedly happened six or seven hundred years earlier.

Since there is no archeological evidence of massive destruction, the violence described in the Bible is obviously hyperbole and literary licence, no matter how much you want it to be true to serve your agenda. The fact that there were undoubtedly skirmishes between the Israelites and neighboring tribes is not even close to being a good reason to conclude that the entire Christian project is evil and corrupt.

You yourself have unwittingly adopted a Christian ethos . On balance, that speaks well of the overall wisdom and truth of the teachings of Jesus Christ, Paul, and the apostles.



But more importantly, the fact that you hate the Hebrew Bible does nothing to disprove or dispel the possibility that a mathematically rational and lawful universe is caused by an underlying rational agency.

Morality is not concerned with being paid back, or reaping any benefits.
It's about placing the welfare of others above your own, with no expectations of reward or reciprocity.

How do you decide what is a lie and what isn't? If the most relevant stories of the Bible are made up, why should we believe God/divine Jesus are real?

Even if true, it doesn't make God real. At one point, 90% or more of the US was Christian, which means Christians were beating 90% of the wives, committing 90% of the crime, beating 90% of the slaves etc.

Is that part of your Christian ethos?
