If everyone is a descendant of Adam & Eve

Ancient People needed 'stories' to explain things. Most of us have evolved into Modern People and accept Science as the Truth Giver. We still have hold-overs from the Past, they won't change but their children will.

I am pretty sure in the 21st century, it is only poorly educated evangelicals and fundamentalists who think of the bible as a literal, historical document.

Even ~2,000 years ago Christian theologians and Christian philosophers maintained the biblical stories can be metaphorical and figurative. Putting the poorly educated American bible thumpers aside, evolution and biological evolutionary tenets are widely accepted in western Christianity, and are not considered incompatible with Christianity.

“When God is said to ‘walk in paradise in the cool of the day’ and Adam to hide himself behind a tree, I do not think anyone will doubt that these are figurative expressions which indicate certain mysteries through a semblance of history and not through actual event.”

-Origen of Alexandria, third century A.D.

I actually think Christianity is even sillier when some of the Bible is meant to be metaphorical. It's basically saying this is the Word of God, but I'll decide what's literal and what's figurative.

.

far as I can tell all Christians cherry pick, only cite biblical passages that support their ideology

imo if they were to cherry pick Jesus' teachings about brotherhood, charity, kindness, etc that would be fine and probably what this Jesus guy from the ME would have intended

The part you're missing,is when Jesus left,he sent the Holy Spirit to live in you,to help understand the Bible.
I was a Spirit filled Christian,years before I opened a Bible

That's the bullshit used to justify which parts of the Bible you want to follow.

I leave it to the theologians and philosophers to figure out.

What I do know from my limited experience with Hinduism, Greek philosophy, Enlightenment philosophers, Christian theology, and Buddism is that there is no definitive bright, sharp line between what the human mind considers reality, what is literal, figurative, or representations and perceptions. It was basically Descartes' life work. It is an epistemological question that has raged for thousands of years, and will not be settled by us armchair experts on an obscure message board.

I wonder how many of these white bread 'Christian' haters realized their ancestors were all black Africans........means they are literally black people with white skin

talk about inconvenient truth lol

Adam was Black,Eve was white, the mark of Cain is Asian eyes.
From these three, you can make everyone look, how they look today

Some Christians might try to explain it this way: back then genetics were much more "pure" and therefore incest wasn't a big deal. Also before the flood there were no meat eaters, that's why humans and dinosaurs could coexist, and also no weeds (whatever the fuck that means, because weeds are just any plant that grows where you don't necessarily want it to).

Creationists are bat shit retarded.
