I wouldn't believe Trump if his tongue came notarized...

Not once. Or for Congress.

I've voted Green & Libertarian before for Prez, but mostly Democrat, and I've voted GOP in some local elections.

I think it's pretty funny Desh is trying to label you a Republican even though you've never voted for a Republican for President or Congress. Hell of a lot of good you've done for us pal!

Obama knew what he was getting into it. He said he could change the tone.

I don't see any evidence that he has even attempted to change the tone. I expected more of a Clinton sequel - Clinton was able to work w/ the GOP Congress, who hated him as much as the current one hates Obama, to get things accomplished. I think Obama bailed on that very early...way too early. He has not been a leader in that respect.

I like other aspects of Obama's Presidency, but he has not delivered on his promise to change the tone & the way things are done. Some of that lies w/ the GOP Congress, but he has to bear some accountability.

This I strongly disagree with.

And that's fine. I get putting more of it on the GOP. I mean, they have come out & publicly stated that it's what they're about.

But I think Obama has increased his partisan tone w/ each passing year. He often takes his case to the public in a way that is hardly inviting of GOP cooperation. If I was on the other side of the rhetoric, I'd find a lot of it to be divisive. That aspect of his Presidency has always been disappointing to me, because I see Obama as one of the most intelligent Presidents we've had, and was genuinely hopeful that he COULD change the tone, at least a little.

Do you think he has made a genuine effort to mend fences w/ the GOP, or reach out to them on the bigger initiatives? I'd call the effort token at best.

it takes 2 to Tango. Neither Obama nor the Repubs are interested in bi-partisanship.

I think Obama gave up on a legislative agenda after Obamacare, and the Repubs were obstructionist on day 1.
The only thing they agree on is the blame game

It is the duty of the opposition to obstruct.

no it's not. it the duty to obstruct where compromise isn't possible ( last resort) -but compromise has to be the prime goal.
It's how our 2 party system works to get things done

Yes it is, when the opposition finds the policies of the majority party not to their liking. The Democrats in Congress just demonstrated this with their latest sit-in.

Or are you to have me believe that *if* Trump gets elected and *if* the GOP maintains its majorities in both houses that the Democrats in Congress will merrily compromise when the GOP acts to dismantle ObamaCare? Or would you expect them to filibuster, sit-in, invoke archaic rules, delay, vote lock-step against, in other words obstruct as much as possible?

I do think he did, in fact I feel I watched him do it, in his first term. After that, no. He learned. I recall being frustrated with him in his 1st term, especially his first two years, for being naive about their intentions. And for playing softball with them.

Daesch you are clueless......I voted for Kasich.....you and I agree on nothing......you didn't even know who you were voting for......

You have more in common with desh than you think. You both think the "other side" is uniformly stupid, and you both pull the lever for party regardless of how truly horrible the candidate is.

In a way, you're the desh of the right.
