We had in my all white school,one of those assistant principals who dealt out corporal punishment.
He beat me hard,to hard to call discipline,I hated him to the day he died.And would gladly piss on his grave.Sadistic prick hope he's burning in Hell.

So do we...there wasn't corporal punishment in my home so I find other ways...all kids are different...part of the challenge of teaching.
In my case, I had children in class, sometimes all day, for multiple years, so I did have a much better chance of "eventually" finding the disciplinary alternatives...

Public School. 60 years ago. For my kids, 30 years ago.
It's an attitude problem. They have no idea of what they are going to school for. They come out with the same attitude. And ... go directly to Prison. No one wants to be around unruly assholes.

It's probably hard when a kid learns all the wrong things at home.
And you're fighting a uphill battle to turn them around,only to go home,and unlearn all you taught them.
I seen plenty of good kids in inner city Toledo end up in bad situations,because they were surrounded by bad role models.
NEVER had that happen or heard about ANYTHING like that. Most were Parents. Looked at us as 'children'. Some would make you bend over, then ... look at you and say "Don't do that again', and send you off.

Teachers used to be respected...and allowed to do their job. Not so much any more...;(

The thing about using corporal punishment on troubled kids,they probably are being physically and verbally beat at home.

I can understand why people want to get away from the inner city when they have children. I feel bad for the kids in the Projects that have interest and motivation, but are surrounded by a group of dumbasses that have no direction and no desire.
