I truly can't think of a more offensive concept than "bussing"

It happened...but not for long...I was teaching at the time...our school became quite the mix...
(We moved to a burb with it's own system;)

I think the normal progression was of 'white flight' from the urban City to the Suburbs. People just looking for a better School System. I never experienced 'Bussing' so have no idea of what THAT was like.

We moved to the suburbs with the best system...no putting Kindergarten child aged child on a bus across town.
I'm pretty sure we don't avoid "ethnic kids"....
You really should seek help for your issues;)

Feel free to ask-I started teaching in '77... always in what would be considered "inner city schools":)
(Our personal situation was not "white flight", just fyi....lol )

Would sound so much better if you didn't have the racist past.
Then there's how I met you.
As you campaigned that Gay people shouldn't be allowed to use the word marriage.
That they needed to have their own word for their relationships.

What most Parents want for their children.

It seems most teachers in 'inner City' schools are 'white'. And are taken advantage of by black kids using 'racist' as a tactic. I wouldn't be able to tolerate that.

Our staff was pretty racially balanced....Most "black" kids don't use that tactic...unless they're "told" to....and that's dealt with pretty quickly...but it is a Much bigger issue/problem today than it was when I was still teaching....

What makes you think that Jack?
Ever live in the inner city?

I was working in a school (inner City), all black. Majority of Teachers white. All the kids came from the Projects and adjacent areas. I was in this Cloak Room doing some work while the Teacher 'taught'. They totally ignored her. One guy was tapping on his desk with some drumsticks, most others were having conversations with other kids, she had to yell to be heard over the din of the classroom. The Bell rang, everyone left except the Teacher. I asked her "Why don't you start throwing people out the window" (we were on the second floor). She said "You can't touch them". The Kids were in charge, the Teachers just there making a Pay Check.
Think you'd want to send YOUR kid there?

I think it's more the discontinuance of 'Corporal Punishment'. If you can't discipline the kid, he takes that with him throughout school. Then, when he tries that same attitude with the Cops, he gets shot and can't figure it out.

There's a way (lots of ways, actually) to stop that kind of scenario from taking place, you know. I bet you can guess;)

Actually my youngest son went to a school much like that, but most the trouble kids only went a week or so than didn't come anymore.
His graduation class, was mostly black, but good kids.

I'm not for "corporal"...even when it was "available", I didn't choose that option....
Discipline (and being allowed to enforce/follow through) is a huge problem, though....but it's got to start early...and at home...Some of these kids are lost by the time they get to K....:(

Beat the kids into submission is the answer?

No. I can't. In San Diego, where I come from, they hire ex Marines to teach in Junior High and High School. The Parents and the School supports this system. They have no problem grabbing you by the shirt or hitting you with a wooden yard stick.
I went to an all white school. I'm pretty sure black students (and their Parents) would scream 'racism' if this would occur with them.

I'm glad to hear that. Weren't you the one promoting the Movie 'Lord of the Flies'?

As a Parent I supported 'corporeal punishment'. I want my kids to know who the 'Adult' is at Home and at School.
