Huckabee? IN the lead? Really?

Christian Jarod, Christian.....I believe that true Christian's are governed by the New Testament not the Old Testament. You can find many varied beliefs in the world of "Christians." Some want to go to church on Saturday, some on Sunday, some not at all. Some want to accept homosexuality and some stand firm against it. Some forbid the eating of pork and certain meats and some do not. So you see, Jarod, you can find a lot of things to point out...like pork and such....that you can try to use to thwart my beliefs. The simple fact is, though Mr. Huckabee is a member of a "Christian" denomination and I am not, his beliefs on many things line up well with mine....so naturally I like the guy.

But you see.... here is the point.

There are many things I belive are not healthy and are bad choices for living. There are many legal things that I personally belvie are bad, but I dont persume to make that choice for others unless it directly adversly harms innocent people.

I dont belive people should get tatoos, they sicken me, Personally I feel it is against God. Its scarring a beautifull creation of God and replacing it with tacky man-made perversions of nature.

Would I support the banning of Tatoos? NEVER!

Would I support a canidate who wanted to ban Tatoos? NEVER!

Because in America I belive that the government should not be enforcing rules based on people's belifes about God! Others have a right to get all the tats they choose, maybe they belive God wants them to, and who am I to enforce that morallity on someone else.

Tell your reps to pass a law making it legal Jarod. Obama is a Democrat tell him to do the same. People voted on it in California and it didn't pass. There are groups fighting to make gay marriage legal. Donate money to them volunteer with them. You have choices.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee says he opposes gay marriage, in part, because of the “ick factor,” and that God created marriage for straight people.

So, Mike Huckabee doesn't think the 1st Amendment exists because he doesn't believe in Gay Marriage, because he thinks God doesn't like it? That's some stretching and contorting, isn't it? And OH, by the way... Obama and Biden also oppose Gay Marriage, along with about 70% of the fucking rest of the country!

And Jarod, that is exactly why I oppose it. Without God (actually His word) there would be no basis for opposing it.
WOW, so God is against homosexuals because some Bronze aged priests wanted to distinguish the Jews from the rest of the dudes and declared that homosexuality was an abomination, not a sin, and there is a difference for all who study scriptures and the times and what different words meant! Amazing! I love religion and the silly beliefs tied to it!

It's really not good practice to base secular governmental policy on religious logic. Civil marriage is different than religious marriage. Your religion doesn't allow religious gay marriages. Others do. That's fine. At the end of the day there needs to be a social construct in place to more easily facilitate these kinds of marriages, whether they be of a purely practical and secular purpose, or they're part of a religion that allows it. Your religious opposition to gay marriage will always be valid, but when you try to influence purely secular policy on this basis, we run into problems.

like the free ownership of machine guns?

I dont know, my guess....

Politics.

LMAOooo... Okay, so Huckabee opposes it because he doesn't believe the 1st Amendment exists and thinks God hates homosexuals, but Obama opposes it because it's "politics?" Riiiiiiiiiiiight!

Jarhead... 70% of America is opposed to Gay Marriage. That is a fact you need to realize and understand. We can turn this thread into yet another long-winded debate over Gay Marriage, and I predict it will end up the same as all the thousands of other similar threads, no one will have their opinions changed. Is there a point to doing that, other than to observe yourself posting the same thing over and over again?

The other side has more money, isn't it a pity that a thing like human rights hinges on the vote! and money, one day we will look back on this as we do slavery with disbelief that we treated other humans this way!

you do understand how this slippery slope got started, right?

Oops, sorry, it was a CNN poll....and the lead for Huckabee over Obama is 52% - 44%. But like Soc says, don't put much stock in this early of polling. Don't mean a thing.

That's pretty important, actually. Opinion research had a slight Republican bias in 2012, but this overwhelms that and the margin of error.

However, if there's one thing Obama does, it's run a damn fine campaign.

EDIT: it's weird that Huckabee is doing better than Romney, though.

I know its two years away, but seriously... if this is who is leading in the Republican race for the presidental nomination... Im fairly sure Obama gets reelected.......

"...I'm going to read a list of people who may be running in the Republican primary for president in 2012. Haley Barbour has an obsession with pardoning people who killed their girlfriends. I don't think he'd last that long in a serious campaign.

Excuse me, but has Mike Huckabee (or anyone on the right) ever proposed or suggested that we ban homosexuality or make it illegal?

Tell ya what, toots... you guys go into 2012 with a platform pushing Gay Marriage! I think that is your best shot at winning! Just convince Obama this is the way to go, that America is ready to embrace this idea, and this is how he can win re-election! I support you 100% in doing that... GOOD LUCK!

Then give 'em a civil union. I have always been on the same page as Obama with this. A civil union but not marriage. Call it semantics if you want but to some of us it is that imortant.

Afraid of gay marriage! Now that is just stupid! Ahahahaha, I think people who fear gay marriage are in the closet! Come out, come out!

If Obama came out in support of gay marriage I doubt it'd make a difference one way or the other. Politicians in support of gay marriage get elected in states that are slightly against it all the time, and America at large is only polls slightly against gay marriage (it's about 47-50 currently).

One day the USA will evolve out of the Bronze Age! I only hope I get to see it!

My opposition to machine guns does not have anything to do with God.

which is why I only included your remarks about legality and not doing adverse harm to anyone. now, can you answer regarding that? or are you going to duck and cover because I busted your bullshit idea of freedom?
