How should the Dems counter the TEA Party?

dixie....do you really believe the tea party is "perfect"?

the dems won't have to counter the tea party, the tea party is dividing the gop and lessening the gop's chances of taking a majority in november

Could we please find another option!

no, you take the TEA option or we let the dems outrageous and unsustainable spending destroy the nation. it's our way or the highway.
I still can't believe that Republicans don't spend money, if that were truly the case, I would switch parties! oh what, I don't have a party, I am undeclared!!!! Dang, probably why I get all those annoying phone calls about who I am voting for!

I guess it is where the money is spent that is the main argument, like war verses stimulus packages!

The Republicans completely lost their way during the 2000's. The only reason they are this close to sniffing power again is a gift from the Democrats.

The Republicans have to change their ways and the tea party is a big part of that change.

Wait, Republicans don't spend money? I'm assuming that's sarcasm because they know how to spend with the best of them. Unless something changes it basically comes down to they both spend out of control and we're forced to pick between which groups spending we like better.

Smarterthanme doesn't think that Republicans spend like the Dems, I personally don't see much difference, except the programs they want to spend the money on.

how about the gop act conservative on fiscal matters and open up on social issues
It is how I remember the party to be when I joined back in 1973, I was a Young Republican in High School and very proud of the fact. It was when Reagan came on board that I finally decided I should go! They weren't the Grand Old Party any longer. It is when the whole political system began to morph into the product we have today. It is insanity!

It is a part that started out well and then got high-jacked by the fundies! The Tea Party will change things, but I don't think it is going to be for the good of all.

don't put words in my mouth please. I've always been bitching that the republicans spend just as much, or nearly as much, as the dems.

If I did, I am sorry, and so maybe you can clarify a few things for me.

So, the TEA party and the Republicans aren't the same? Why are they using their platform? You obviously think the Dems spend more than the Republicans?

You actually believe the TEA PARTY will have control of the Republican Party and the spending?

Maybe you should actually set me straight, it could happen!

I would prefer they act conservative on fiscal matters, and stay the hell out of social matters.

George W. spent money like a drunken sailor. that is why I always maintained he was not a true conservative. But apparently the definition changed when I wasn't looking.

there are indeed republicans trying to ride the coattails of this new movement, but the heart and soul of the TEA party people are not like the bozos you get to see on tv and read about in the media all the time. The establishment has no interest in seeing a change in the political atmosphere, so they are going to do nothing more than paint the TEA party people in the most extreme light possible. They apparently didn't account for the delaware upset and that has even the most ardent republicans in shock, like Karl Rove.

the specialty about the TEA party people is that our power and ideals are being kept locally. Palin can be a figurehead all she likes, but without any support from the locally elected real TEA candidates, she's nothing. We know this, but we'll milk her for all she's worth before we cast her aside.
