Germany doesn't build twice as many cars as the US; never has, and never will. I don't know where this author gets his data, but it isn't connected to reality.
But we do know that a BMW or Mercedes costs twice that of a ford, Chrysler or Jeep which is why Germans can pay more in wages. But the wage data this dunce used is also false.
Bottom line; this story is as big of a joke as the claim is that we can double factory workers wages and not have to pay twice as much for our cars. Pretty damn stupid if you ask me.

Nobody asked you.
Without question though, german workers are treated about the best in the world.
That's because the German people are a special race.

German cars are twice as good as American cars.
Don't feel threatened 3D...you're special too! That's because the German people are a special race.
FTFYNo, they are not. If an American car costs $50 to $125K it will be every bit as good. You can't compare a BMW to a Chrysler shit-for-brains.
German workers have a lower and simpler quality of life even if they make more because of the massive taxes they have to pay and gas prices that are three times ours. Many don't even own a car but rely on public transportation because operating a car is so expensive.
You also pay for every cup of coffee and every glass of coke; there are no free refills. Tips are automatically added to your bill whether you like the service or not.
Only uninformed dunces want to be more like a Southern Redneck.

I have to admit that one of the problems Unions have, particularly for unskilled workers is that they create little incentive to excel and can create a culture of mediocrite. Trade Unions are a different story. Unions also act as guilds or certification bodies that establish skill level in the trades. The purpose for those Trade Unions are to collectively charge what the market what it will bear for their labor. They also have very strict standards for employment and quality of work. Meeting those requirements commands a higher pay, in Germany or anywhere else.
LOL...LR...you do understand that in most of the civilized world they frown upon DIY oil changes cause those who do it tend to do really stupid things like pour it onto the ground and contaminate the ground water with it?I don't often agree 100% with Truth Detector but I agree 100% with this post. Much of my family has lived in Germany and it isn't cheap. They have their share of poor folks as well plus this is spot-on:
Try getting an oil change over there. Oh, and you can't do it yourself either. Big no-no. I'm sorry, just another of many reasons I have no desire to model our country after the European model.
I would say that most those lacking an education would agree with you as for the need for change....hey if you want to work your ass off for chump change to enrich someone else....that's your prerogative...I have no problem with that. Just don't ask me to do that.Mott, education does a fine job undermining itself. Enjoy your healthy dose of union mediocrity, because you obviously see no need for change.
I'm part German...
