Honest question for Confederate flag lovers: Why are you so proud of losing?

The confederate flag may as well be a white surrender flag. It's the symbol of getting your asses royally kicked by the north. And yet you tattoo it on yourselves, or put in the rear window of your pick up truck. Why are you so fixated on being losers? Are you gluttons for punishment? Do you like constantly reminding yourselves of how your ancestors/relatives chose the wrong side? Why are you so eager to ally yourself with team failure?
 
It is part of our history and southern tradition

Many who fought for the South were against the Federal government interfering with the right of the states to govern themselves

If any group waves a white flag it is liberals when they are confronted by terrorists and enemies of the nation like Iran

no you fought because you wanted to keep people in chains.

are you proud your history and tradition is of losing a major war? That's what it all boils down to. You wave failure proudly. I just don't understand why. If I got owned so bad I wouldn't want to constantly remind people.

Oh I wanted to keep them in chains?

That would make me about 160 years old

It was about states rights and the right for VA to govern VA- and so on

No, if any group wants to keep people in "chains" it is liberals by shackling them into a life of dependence

You didn't answer my question though, why are you and others so proud of losing? Why do you shout from the rooftops that you were on the losing team? Doesn't it bother you at all, that in spite of your bravado, that the north can pretty much curb stomp you? how do you like the fact that all the wimpy liberals shoved your faces in the dirt?

Looks like you need a history lesson on the Civil War

1) Many in the North owned slaves including many Union Generals

2) The war was fought over money not slavery. Pres Lincoln was worried about the loss of revenue when the South broke away from the union

3) The Confederate flag was on of three flags National flags that were carried into battle - thus the Confederate flag does not represent the Southern states

So why not worry about more important things then a flag?

While I do agree this thread seems to be created to inflame, the person who's giving you advice is one of the biggest trolls on here, so if you're looking for civil and rational, take a look at his many trollish posts and you'll see what I mean.

I can remember being in a redneck bar in Georgia years back managing a project. My colleague and I were drinking and listening to a local band (who was actually very good) when the inevitable drunk southern boy jumped up and yelled "The Souths Gonna Do It Again!" and I jumped up and yelled in my midwest accent "I Certainly Hope So!". They didn't think that was too funny.
 
What I have never understood is that the same rednecks who wave the confederate flag are also the first ones to claim they are patriotic Americans. How the hell does that work?

I don't understand that, and I'm as southern as they come.
 
Don't be so hard on them.

They are probably just some good old boys. Wouldn't change if they could.

Fighting the system like a true, modern day, Robin Hood.

Mwahahahaha! I'm not lauging at you, I'm laughing at the thought of civility in JPP.

Hey welcome to the board and I do mean that sincerely and there are times when people can have informed and intelligent conversation here and I do appreciate your attempt at civility.

Having said that, it's not the reality here....lots of good threads to chew the fat on but you'd better have a thick skin. :)
