History of Segregationist Housing in the U.S.

It's a meme, except in practice.

... except in the heads of people who choose to believe that bullshit.

I have well-educated, affluent, and liberal whites living all around me.

Many have just moved into the area in the last 5 years. Nothing new or special about that given that it's taking place all over the country.

Market forces are your problem. If people are willing to pay through the nose to live in California, who are we to oppose that .. according to people who believe in the rule of market forces. I don't.

The hard truth is that although you live in California, it's not your state. People who just got there 5 minutes ago have just as much claim to it as you do.

More development means more strain on the state's resources .. not the least of which is water.

California’s Drought Is Part of a Much Bigger Water Crisis. Here’s What You Need to Know

The result of all this is extreme income inequality. If that's the goal then we are achieving it here. California is often talked about as a model for other states. Not sure that should be exported elsewhere.

I'm interested in what you believe. Can you elaborate? Market forces is a general term. What is the alternative? Is there some advisory board making financial decisions for people?

Cwacko laid out the reasons for the high costs. Artificially preventing the building of housing through strict zoning laws has lead to the high prices. Supply and demand in action.

Much of the major federal impact started with the New Deal and World War II. As Washington sought to provide housing first for the economically displaced, then for workers at newly opened arsenal-of-democracy factories, racial segregation was the norm.

And when Blacks were no longer needed for FDR's war machine, the Democrats kicked them to the curb again. But the author doesn't mention the impact of that.

Nor does he mention that most of the "imported" Black labor were probably field hands previously living in shacks with no electricity or running water. And he doesn't mention that Whites would have been recruited FIRST by the FDR war machine. Blacks would have been in a second, later, wave to be placed in housing that was constructed later, and maybe on a more restrained budget because of the progression of FDR's war.

Hmmm.

It's history
It's discriminatory housing practices

You could put Donald Sterling in there along with many others. Again, within the context of the article and the time frame it is referencing where do Trump and his rental properties fit in?

Time frame of Orangetweet and Daddy's discriminatory practices? Late 60s and early 70s, wasn't it?

Who the fuck is Donald Sterling?

You don't know who Donald Sterling is? Jesus dude.

Ah. Looked him up. Makes sense coming from a SoCal cuntweed such as yourself. Lakers and Clippers owner, huh?

One could mention Paul Beeston as far as I'm concerned. Of course, you know who he is.

You're not the Trojan freak? Could have sworn you were.

To the rest of the nation, this Sterling asshole is a nobody. National news for a day to someone who gives a shit. I vaguely remember it, now that you mention it. Was he the double ugly motherfucker with the young, eye candy bitch at his side?

Went to USC but from Nor Cal. I think the girls name was V. She might have been a tranny. Sterling made his money in real estate and had been accused multiple times of racial discrimination in who he would lease to

this isn't about poverty or teaching the poor a lesson. Middle class people are leaving the area and state because of the cost of housing. It's about letting new development occur to meet the demand. Yet people here fight tooth and nail against it.

Are you talking about w/ in the city??
