I live here, trust me, I see the problem.. Elk Grove was the fast growing city in the nation for a few years & still ranks very high........... Constant building, but the prices are cheap compared to the bay, & why many from the bay come here, as well as ppl from all over the world..
It is "unAmerican" to tell ppl/AMericans that they can't come here... Hell, they couldn't even keep the Oakies out...
There is no plan, every community/county does their own thing & the hell w/ the folks down the freeway........
South Calif is even worse........... One day the entire central valley will be like that-massive burbs w/ urban pockets-from Reading in the north, to the grapevine in the south, from the foothills of the Sierra's to the coastal range.......

"smart growth" is suppose to support more density near transportation stops; what we get along the coasts is people who claim to support that yet fight it in their neighborhoods so we end up with more suburban sprawl.
Yes, we have the same problem here, 100 miles from the city........
I have neighbors that drive 125+ to SJ every day, as well as many that do 75-90 into the city & east bay-because they can afford a house here..

If you love California you better wake up and smell the coffee before it is too late.
Florida on a much smaller scale but long ago should be the model you abhor.
When a population of illegals gain a foothold to the point that you are unable to move them, the culture will change before your very eyes.
English is no longer the language in the lower 40% of the state.
In Florida it's not that people of upper middle class are being run out by the cesspool in everything from entitlement abuse, taxes and crime and all in between.
They simply cease wanting to live there. The quality of life will suffer, liberals will prop this degrading metamorphosis moreso in California than Florida,
because the votes that come along with it are all that matter to the purse strings. And the politicians all holding the purse strings will all live up on the hill far far away from you and your new plight.
