Higher Gas Prices Are Good For The Climate

Ok, let me ask this. If it’s simply the good ole boys who are the problem then why does a City like LA, which voting wise is very progressive and thinks climate change is an existential threat, have such a car culture that fights against many mass transit issues and most people refuse to take mass transit?

Because hoodlums and lack of law enforcement.

May of 2021, tarrant county texas spent 97,000 dollars on their fuel expenses for first responders. May of 2022 they spent 270,000 dollars on fuel expenses for first responders, limiting a lot of 911 issues for necessary service. congrats on causing great harm to people all over the country.

The fact that you are conservative and live in California demonstrates that no State is all one side or the other. You might feel that way, but you are not alone. Looking at the election results confirms it. It's not like California votes 100% for Democrats. There is a split. It's just that there are more Democrats and progressive thinkers in California. Not that everyone is like that.

We’re talking about LA. How people vote in the city/county is readily accessible. There are no Republicans running things in LA. There are very few good ole boys in LA driving their pick up trucks.

The argument was good ole boys won’t change. Why won’t people who aren’t good ole boys and vote progressively change?

No doubt, but the good ole boys aren’t going to ever give up their F250 Duallies, along with their guns, it defines them, down the road America is going to pay the price for not investing in mass transit

There is no such thing as F250 duallies, you fucking faggot.

The good ole boy reference was to a mind set, and the West Coast’s shortcoming is as I said, failure to invest in mass transit, what little they have sucks, and that which they propose, wanting

Volvo says manufacturing an EV generates 70% more emissions than its ICE counterpart

Electric vehicles (EVs) have always been championed as the best solution to save our polar bears, but according to a new study published by Volvo, manufacturing an EV actually generates up to 70% more carbon emissions as compared to the good ol’ internal combustion engine (ICE) car.

Imagine all the toxic waste from those massive batteries!!

LA is similar to Dallas as I understand it where there’s a heavy car culture. You can build mass transit but it doesn’t mean people will ride it.

Always love it when the wingers think they got you with a gimme over semantics

No, they don’t roll out of the factory as duallies, but they are converted to duallies, ergo, F250 duallies, and having driven several, their cows, you going to tell me that duallies should really be spelled dually

A recession now ang again would also be good for the environment.

But no - as woke idiots cry about how horrible capitalism is, they refuse to allow bubbles to burst - forever propping up our deficit spending - while yelling at everyone about global warming

Will if planned correctly and it is there best option, they will, unless you think gas prices are always going to be as low and assessable as they usually are in the US

If it were only that easy, I think we saw in 1929 that it isn’t

1971 is when we ended Bretton Woods, reneged on promises and allowed governments to no longer be constricted by fundamentals.

the world is still a harsh unforgiving place - people need to struggle now and again - including Americans

Are you trying to imply that the people who are displaying wasteful practices are the same ones who voting for resource conservation policy?

Hello cawacko,

Somebody must be using it:

"The Los Angeles Metro Rail is a transportation system serving the city of Los Angeles in California. It began operation in July 1990 and consists of 6 lines, 93 stations and is operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. All lines run seven days a week between 05:00 - 24:00."

LA Metro Rail

Do you think all those trains are running around empty?

Maybe this will cause more people to adjust their driving habits.

Drive less. Plan multi tasking trips to reduce driving. Accelerate more gradually. Coast more. Learn to time the signals. Park quickly nearer the street entrance. Walk further to the door.

Saves gas, saves money, saves the climate, saves the brakes, saves the tires.

Coast more?

Lol

Keep up the good work.

I hope the Democrats run on “higher gas prices.”

Would 100 dollars a gallon be good for you?

Will if planned correctly and it is there best option, they will, unless you think gas prices are always going to be as low and assessable as they usually are in the US

Planning means nothing if people don’t want to use it.
