Heart attack or asphyxiation?

The report says that once Floyd was handcuffed he was compliant with the officers. Then a few minutes later he fell to the ground, still handcuffed, and two other officers held his legs and his back. Why was it necessary to kneel on his neck at this point? Even if nobody touched him, he couldn't have done much with his hands secured behind his back.

The cop is an evil idiot. Read this thread and watch the videos. There have good comments on this whole
mess throughout. These 4 cops will hopefully pay a big price for their actions.

Arresting someone isn’t doing a rush job, it’s procedure. The reason innocent people are in jail is because of botched investigations, people lying, police planting evidence, coerced confessions or the color of a person’s skin. It generally isn’t because of rushed investigations.
Exactly why everybody that witnessed the incident should be question and all pertinent videos be collected and viewed and all perpetrators interview to get their stores fixed so they can't change. THEN charges should be files and arrests made. You do know these guys will quickly bond out when they do get arrested. So what's the hurry. Do it right so the charges stick.

The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.”

Yup, Floyd would be alive today if it were not for negligent police.

guilty as charged

Cops are supposed to be taught about positional asphyxia.

"Positional asphyxia is not just about the position of the subject’s body. There are precipitating factors that make positional asphyxia deadly. These factors include intoxication due to alcohol, drug use, obesity, psychiatric illnesses, and physical injury. Positional asphyxia may even be caused simply by the subject getting into a breathing-restricted position they cannot get out of, either through their own carelessness or as a consequence of an accident or illness. Some people have suffered seizures that trapped them in positions where their breathing was restricted and death has resulted.

Positional asphyxia is a potential danger of some common physical restraint techniques. That’s why it is necessary for law enforcement officers to know and understand that preexisting risk factors combined with the body position of the subject when subdued or while in transport can increase the risk of in-custody death."

George Floyd family enlists Dr. Michael Baden to perform second autopsy

The family of George Floyd, the Minneapolis man who died shortly after he was arrested by police officers on suspicion of passing a counterfeit $20 bill, has retained prominent forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden to perform an independent autopsy.

Baden, a former New York City chief medical examiner, confirmed to Fox News Friday that the Floyd family had asked him to perform the autopsy and said he would travel to Minneapolis Saturday. Baden added that he would discuss his findings early next week.

An official autopsy revealed nothing to support strangulation as the cause of death, concluding that the combined effects of being restrained, potential intoxicants in Floyd’s system and his underlying health issues, including heart disease, likely contributed to his death.

Attorney Benjamin Crump, who is representing Floyd's family, said Friday that talk of a heart condition or asthma was irrelevant because Floyd was walking and breathing before his contact with police.

I don't think that Atty. Crump saw the video. Floyd was clearly having trouble standing and breathing. He told cops while
he was standing with them that he was having a hard time breathing. His legs also gave out on him.

Video #1
I finally found a video of events preceding the video of George Floyd on the street being held down by the 3 cops.
Three people come out of his car and are led to the sidewalk for questioning. Floyd looks a little unsteady.
Two cops walk him across the street to another cop car where his legs give way and he collapses. (see Video #2 next)

The answer is:

Homicide

Those cops never even called for an ambulance until Floyd went silent (either passed out or deceased at that point!!!). Like I said earlier,
they should have called the paramedics in the 1st minute they had him on the ground while he was distressed, in pain and having breathing problems.
Outrageous! These guys better be locked up forever! :(

And, I still don't get why none of the onlookers filming this did not call 911 either early on!!!!!!!

Floyd ended up pinned to the ground by Officer Derek Chauvin.

On bystanders’ video, Floyd complains of pain and of not being able to breathe as Chauvin keeps a knee on his neck. Onlookers are heard urging Chauvin to let him up.

Floyd then goes silent. Police said in their statement this week that officers “noted (Floyd) appeared to be suffering medical distress” and called an ambulance. He was declared dead at a hospital a short time later.

You call 911, the operator sees that there are police already on the scene, and tell the police who you are, the police arrest you for calling 911. Kind of pointless.
