Very different things, and its not Kimmel that is causing the dam to break, that is just the conduit. These guys were ready to start a break with the President who will very soon be a lame duck.Comparing the Iraq War to Jimmy Kimmell? That seems like quite the stretch.
Much like how the establishment journalists and news readers no longer matter...there has been way way way too much lying.....they are freaking out about it.Jimmy Kimmel just doesn't matter...
I agree, but he seems to matter a lot to the President.Jimmy Kimmel just doesn't matter...
We’re not even a year into the term, and no one’s peeling away before the midterms. Whatever you think of Trump, the America First movement still has a lot of pull with Republican voters.Very different things, and its not Kimmel that is causing the dam to break, that is just the conduit. I am not comparing the two, I am comparing how a party starts to break with a president.
The Republicans did not break with Bush on the Iraq war until he was a lame duck.
The analogy I’d offer is Democrats, including Kamala Harris, knowing Biden was fading fast and should not run for re-election, yet staying silent. The reason is simple, politics is a team sport and people don’t like speaking out against their own side. It's tempting to want to believe that there are enough honest (R)s who still care about this country, who will stand up to the #TangerineTyrant. But there aren't. Where were they when he stole classified documents, instigated an attack on the Capitol then pardoned the insurrectionists? Where are they now that he's unleashed his ICE goons upon the country? Where were their voices when he built a prison camp in FL? Why are only three of them kinda sorta sticking up for the first amendment and Kimmel? Why are they silent as he and his brain worm RFK use politics rather than science to advise on medical matters like vaccines?
The (D)s need a spinal strengthening. The (R)s are as spineless as jellyfish.
Disobeying the people who run America is a good way to end up dead......Kirk being the latest lesson. The analogy I’d offer is Democrats, including Kamala Harris, knowing Biden was fading fast and should not run for re-election, yet staying silent. We’re not elected officials, but even on this board we split off into our own shadow boards. It’s rare to see people openly disagree with their own side. The same mentality exists in D.C., and voters usually punish anyone who strays from the team.
I see your point but I do think they will start to call Trump out on specific things, and it’s telling that there main point for not violating free speech is not the constitutional argument but they point out that Trump will not always be President, and we don’t want the Democrats to have his actions as precedent. We’re not even a year into the term, and no one’s peeling away before the midterms. There are plenty of challenges within your own party it seems you should focus on rather than 100% of your time on Trump.

Too funny.
I love and respect President Trump and his America first and peace through strength agenda.
Anyone heard from Iran lately?
Since that’s not happening, it’s a moot issue.
The left won’t prosecute one of their own, so the right has to.
Politics runs on a win now mentality. The result is countless examples of politicians, and political parties, chasing short-term gains that lead to bigger unintended consequences later. In this case, Cruz looks like he’s playing the long game.I see your point but I do think they will start to call Trump out on specific things, and it’s telling that there main point for not violating free speech is not the constitutional argument but they point out that Trump will not always be President, and we don’t want the Democrats to have his actions as precedent.
I swear I did not read this before I posted this thread, but a tiny bit of looking found this opinion piece. A very intelligent man, came to the same idea as I did…Politics runs on a win now mentality. Interesting that Trump didn't go after Cruz or Paul but I'm not sure we're quite there yet when it comes to the MAGA Congress standing up against Trump's abuse of office and anti-Constitutional actions. After years of sycophancy, groveling, and eating crow, at least three Republican senators have publicly stood up to the TACO in Chief!
We had an unprecedented three Republican senators come out against the way Trump threatened Jimmy Kimmel. Not just any Republican senators, but Ted Cruz and Rand Paul were two of them. This has never happened before. Ted Cruz has been kissing Trump‘s ass ever since he got trounced in the Republican primary almost 11 years ago. I have never seen him take Trump on directly, and the very interesting thing was Trump did not punch back.
The American people seem to have supported Disney and ABC when they finally stood up to Trump on the Jimmy Kimmel issue. Trump has shown weakness in this event. Other smaller things like the clear, sabotage the experience at the UN, and his ineptness to do anything about it might be signaling a turn.
I’ve seen over and over again when presidents finally reach the point where their own side is willing to criticize them, they are significantly rained done. I don’t believe it’s a coincidence that this is happening at the beginning of the start of a congressional election year. In a few short months, the focus will be off Trump and onto the nationwide campaign. No matter who wins the house and Senate next year, the end of that race will mark the start of the 2028 presidential primary elections.
Once a few Republicans declare, the emperor has no clothes, I think the dam will have burst. There comes a point where Trump’s power to Lord over congressional Republicans will weaken to a teeny trickle. When that happens, the resentment and anger that they have had to swallow over his treatment of them will come out with a roar.
You seem to be far more spun up over Kimmel than Trump.I agree, but he seems to matter a lot to the President.
People like Cruz do not stay in office as long as he has only playing the short game.Politics runs on a win now mentality. There aren't enough honest politicians in Congress to risk losing their jobs by doing the right thing for the nation. This includes all the MAGAts supporting their Orange Jesus and all the Democrats who fell in line when Biden broke his one-term promise. It's tempting to want to believe that there are enough honest (R)s who still care about this country, who will stand up to the #TangerineTyrant. He was just reelected and will be in office until 2030.People like Cruz do not stay in office as long as he has only playing the short game.
