I disagree with you. Guns, by their nature, promote a culture of murder and violence, in the hands of humans.
I'm pretty sure the murder rates in countries that don't celebrate universal ownership of handguns have lower murder rates.
Sure, one these morons could have pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed the other one to death. Or hired a contract killer. But, few people ultimately find the nerve to stab someone to death. That shit is a bloody mess and involves hand-to-hand combat. And fewer people have the nerve or fortitude to find and negotiate with a contract killer. Guns make murder easy, quick, and relatively hassle-free especially in a momentary fit of passionate rage.
